How much does the 2016 Mazda CX-5 cost?

Prices are up 1.29% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,579 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2016 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Mazda CX-5 earns a 4.73/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its blend of performance, comfort, and value for money, and they also call out solid handling, good gas mileage, and useful safety features. That lines up well with its compact-SUV practicality and more engaging driving feel, especially if you want a crossover that feels more car-like than many rivals. With 31.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.73/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable ownership experience for many drivers, with praise centered on comfort, value, and day-to-day usability. At the same time, the model year has some reported engine, electrical, and brake issues, so you should treat reliability as something to verify carefully on each individual vehicle. For used buyers, that means the long-term risk is manageable if you focus on maintenance history and condition, but it is not a model year to buy blindly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Mazda CX-5?

At 56.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with accident records. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks for engine, electrical, brake, and infotainment concerns, since those are the areas that deserve the most attention. It also helps to focus on overall condition and maintenance documentation, because a well-kept example is more likely to deliver the ownership experience you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Mazda CX-5?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,579 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.29% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 56.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,056, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $14,047 sits slightly above last year's $13,868.

That upward move suggests the market still sees value in this model year, which can help support resale strength if you buy well and keep the vehicle in good condition. Because prices are already trending higher, a clean, well-maintained example may hold its appeal better than one with visible wear or a spotty history. For future sellers, that means maintenance records and accident-free history can matter a lot when it is time to list.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.73/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.29% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.73/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $12,498, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $14,047 average.
• It emphasizes fun-to-drive handling with practical compromises.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $15,904, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $14,047 average.
• It adds a more refined, upscale feel for buyers who want extra polish.

The bottom line: The 2016 is the right pick if you want a well-liked CX-5 with strong owner satisfaction and a reasonable market position. If your priority is saving money, the 2015 is the better value path; if you want a more premium-feeling alternative and can spend more, the 2017 is worth a look.
