Is the 2016 Kia Sportage a good car?

Yes — 4.67/5 is a strong user rating for this model year. The 2016 Kia Sportage stands out as a practical compact SUV with a reputation for reliability and a value-oriented price point on the used market. It offers a choice between everyday efficiency and stronger performance, along with available all-wheel drive, which makes it appealing if you want an affordable used SUV with decent power and a solid reliability reputation. 29.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Kia Sportage reliable?

Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2016 Kia Sportage is described as having a solid reliability reputation, and that matters if you want a used SUV that should be easier to live with over time. Its value-oriented positioning also suggests it appeals to buyers who want dependable transportation without paying a premium. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is finding a vehicle whose condition has been maintained well enough to match that reputation.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Kia Sportage?

At 62.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from those with prior damage. After that, put a pre-purchase inspection at the top of your list, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on overall condition, since accident history and wear can matter more than mileage alone on a used SUV.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Kia Sportage?

This looks like a moderate market, so you can buy now if the right listing appears, but you should still compare carefully.

• Deal availability: 29.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 788 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $9,446, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Kia Sportage's resale value?

The current average of $9,798 sits slightly below last year's $9,877.

That small decline suggests the market has stayed relatively stable, which is helpful if you're thinking about future resale. A steady price pattern can make it easier to estimate what your vehicle may be worth later, especially if you buy near the lower end of the range. If you keep the Sportage in good condition and avoid accident history, you should be in a better position when it's time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Kia Sportage or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 29.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $8,892, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $9,798 average.
• It offers stylish, practical value with a notably lively driving feel.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $11,160, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $9,798 average.
• It adds bold styling and more technology.

The bottom line: The 2016 is the best fit if you want a balanced used Sportage with steady pricing and strong owner satisfaction. If your priority is saving money, the 2015 is the better value play; if you want a newer-feeling package and can spend more, the 2017 is the stronger upgrade path.
