For you, that means this is a sports car that prioritizes excitement and presence over practicality, which matches the model’s two-seat layout and small trunk. If you want a car that makes everyday driving feel special, this year’s F-TYPE fits that brief well.

Good and great deals account for 33.3% of listings, so there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Jaguar F-TYPE reliable?

Owners rate it 4.89/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

That kind of praise suggests you can count on the F-TYPE to deliver the experience buyers expect from it.

The expert evaluation also emphasizes solid handling, strong braking, and a well-tuned automatic transmission that works smoothly in daily use. On the ownership side, Jaguar’s complimentary 5-year/60,000-mile scheduled maintenance adds a helpful ownership perk.

For a used buyer, the main long-term risk is less about basic dependability and more about whether the car has been maintained carefully enough to preserve its premium character.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Jaguar F-TYPE?

At 70.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a close inspection of bodywork, panel alignment, and signs of prior repair. Because this is a low-slung sports car with premium equipment, condition matters a lot, especially if you want the car to feel as special as it should.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup starts with the base F-Type, which brings the core sports-car experience, but the F-Type S adds more power and extra equipment, and the F-Type R brings the most aggressive performance and luxury features. The base trim is the one most likely to leave you wanting more if you care about stronger acceleration and richer equipment.
• Powertrain: You get a 340-hp supercharged V6 in the base car, a 380-hp V6 in the F-Type S, and a 550-hp supercharged V8 in the F-Type R. Rear-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is available on some versions for added traction.
• Safety package: The optional Premium and Vision Pack adds blind-spot monitoring with closing-vehicle sensing, front and rear parking sensors, a rear camera, rear traffic detection, and adaptive and intelligent front lighting with cornering lamps. It also adds heated seats and a heated steering wheel.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses an 8-inch color touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration is not mentioned, and the system includes Jaguar InControl apps plus navigation and a 770-watt Meridian 12-speaker audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: It is rated at 18 mpg city/26 highway/21 combined.

Which 2016 Jaguar F-TYPE trim should I buy?

The 2016 Jaguar F-TYPE is offered in 4 trim levels: F-Type, F-Type S, F-Type S AWD, F-Type R.

Here's the short version:

• F-Type: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core F-TYPE look, sound, and driving feel at the lowest price. It makes sense if you want the style and experience first, but it is the least compelling choice if you want the strongest value.
• F-Type S: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds a stronger 380-hp V6, quicker acceleration, and more performance hardware without jumping all the way to the top of the range.
• F-Type S AWD: Choose this if you want the F-Type S formula with added all-wheel-drive traction for less-than-ideal road conditions. It is the right pick if weather confidence matters more than having a manual transmission.
• F-Type R: This is the full-performance choice, with the 550-hp V8, AWD, and the richest equipment list. It is the one to buy if you want the most dramatic version of the car and are willing to pay for it.

The optional Premium and Vision Pack adds important safety and convenience features, so it is worth seeking out if you want a better-equipped example.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Jaguar F-TYPE?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 132 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 12.58% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 70.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $29,564, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Jaguar F-TYPE's resale value?

The current average of $33,281 sits slightly above last year's $29,561.

That upward move suggests the market has been willing to pay more for this model year, which can help support resale value if you buy well and keep the car in strong condition. For a future seller, that means a clean, well-maintained example should remain easier to market than one with visible wear or accident history.

Because this is a desirable sports car with strong owner satisfaction, demand should stay healthier than average for a niche performance model. That said, condition and equipment will matter a lot when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.89/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Jaguar F-TYPE safe?

The 2016 Jaguar F-TYPE does not have crash-test ratings from either IIHS or NHTSA in the material here.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety equipment includes emergency brake assist, tire pressure monitoring, electronic brakeforce distribution, xenon headlamps with an LED signature, high-performance braking, all-wheel drive, and adaptive dynamic suspension. The optional Premium and Vision Pack adds blind-spot monitoring with closing-vehicle sensing, front and rear parking sensors, a rear camera, rear traffic detection, and adaptive and intelligent front lighting with cornering lamps.

That package is the key safety upgrade to look for on a used example, especially if you want more driver assistance and parking confidence. The low seating position is part of the sports-car formula, so a well-equipped car will matter more for day-to-day ease.

Should I buy a 2016 Jaguar F-TYPE or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 70.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 12.58% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.89/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds all-wheel-drive and manual-transmission options, plus a convertible F-Type R and free maintenance.

Consider the 2015 if:

• It established the F-TYPE formula and was already praised for getting nearly everything right.

The bottom line: The 2016 is the better pick if you want the most developed version of this sports car, especially with the added drivetrain choices and ownership perks. If you are shopping mainly on price, the 2015 can still make sense because it delivers the core F-TYPE experience and may be the easier value play.
