How much does the 2016 INFINITI Q50 cost?

Prices have softened 3.52% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 446 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2016 INFINITI Q50 a good car?

Yes — the 2016 INFINITI Q50 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Technology and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its performance, power, and comfort, and they also call out its handling and spaciousness. That lines up with the overview: you get a stylish, comfortable, technologically sophisticated luxury sedan that can suit drivers who want a more distinctive alternative to the usual segment choices.

At the same time, the strongest appeal depends on how you configure it, since the car’s personality changes meaningfully as you move up the range. 25.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2016 INFINITI Q50 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in the ways that matter most to used buyers: strong performance, comfort, handling, and spaciousness all show up repeatedly. That kind of praise suggests you can count on the Q50 to deliver a satisfying ownership experience if it has been maintained well.

The expert drive notes also support that impression by describing the car as a credible luxury sports sedan with a revised powertrain lineup and retuned driving dynamics. The first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house, which helps soften early ownership costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the car’s basic appeal and more about choosing a neglected example, especially one with unresolved electronics or steering complaints.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 INFINITI Q50?

At 44.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or any signs of uneven panel fit, paint mismatch, or suspension issues. Because this model’s appeal depends heavily on how well it drives and how well its technology works, you should also spend extra time checking the infotainment system, steering feel, and overall cabin condition.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 2.0t Premium is the entry point, but it lacks leather seats, navigation, and the safety-related driver-assistance systems as standard equipment. That makes it the trim where you should pay closest attention to feature gaps and whether the car has the options you want.
• Powertrain: The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder is paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission, and it includes idle stop technology plus driving modes such as Standard, Sport, Snow, and Personal. The expert notes say it delivers decent acceleration but lacks zing, while the transmission itself is smooth and responsive.
• Safety package: The available Driver Assistance package adds predictive forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, rear automatic emergency braking, moving-object detection, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Higher trims can add blind-spot intervention, lane-departure warning with lane-departure prevention, active lane control, adaptive headlights, and pre-crash seat belts.
• Infotainment: Premium models use a dual-screen infotainment system paired with a 14-speaker Bose premium audio system. The system does not include Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, so you should make sure you are comfortable with the native interface before you buy.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.0t returned 26.3 mpg on the test loop and is rated at 26 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2016 INFINITI Q50 trim should I buy?

The 2016 INFINITI Q50 is offered in 4 trim levels: 2.0t, 3.0t, Sport, and Red Sport 400.

Here's the short version:

• 2.0t: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry price and are comfortable with a more modest powertrain. It gives you the core Q50 experience, but the expert notes make clear that it is the least exciting version and that you may want to add options if you care about convenience and safety tech.
• 3.0t: This is the better all-around choice if you want more performance without jumping all the way to the top of the range. The overview specifically points to the 3.0t as a meaningful step up for drivers who care most about performance.
• Sport: This is the trim to target if you want a more serious driving experience and a stronger performance focus. It suits buyers who want the Q50’s luxury feel but also want the car to feel sharper and more engaging.
• Red Sport 400: This is the enthusiast pick and the most powerful version mentioned in the data. It makes sense if you want the most serious performance personality in the lineup and are willing to pay for it.

For safety equipment, note that the Driver Assistance package is not standard on the 2.0t Premium, while higher trims can access more advanced driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 INFINITI Q50?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you should shop with a clear target and be ready to move when you find a strong example.

• Deal availability: 25.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 446 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.52% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 44.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,245, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 INFINITI Q50's resale value?

The current average of $13,505 sits slightly below last year's $13,998.

That decline suggests the market has softened enough to help you buy more selectively today, but it also means future resale gains may be limited unless you choose a well-kept, desirable trim. If you buy smart now, you may be able to reduce your depreciation exposure by starting from a lower entry price.

Condition and equipment will matter a lot when you eventually sell, especially because shoppers in this segment tend to compare feature content closely. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 INFINITI Q50 safe?

The 2016 INFINITI Q50 earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

It includes an available Driver Assistance package with predictive forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, rear automatic emergency braking, moving-object detection, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Higher trims can also add blind-spot intervention, lane-departure warning with lane-departure prevention, active lane control, adaptive headlights, and pre-crash seat belts.

One important caveat is that the safety content notes that neither the NHTSA nor the IIHS carried forward the Q50’s frontal-impact test ratings for 2016, so you should pay close attention to the presence of the driver-assistance package on any used example you consider.

Should I buy a 2016 INFINITI Q50 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 25.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 44.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.52% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2016 update made the Q50 feel more credible as a luxury sports sedan, with a revised powertrain lineup and upgraded technology.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $12,647, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $13,505 average.
• It offers a wide range of personalities, from comfortable all-weather performer to fast sports sedan.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around package, the 2016 is the better starting point because it feels more polished and more credible as a luxury sports sedan. If your priority is simply spending less, the 2015 can still make sense, especially if you find one in good condition and can live with its older setup.
