CarGurus Analysis: 2016 Honda Fit
Summary
With 554 currently listed for sale and an average price of $12,417, 28.2% of 2016 Honda Fit listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2016 Honda Fit 4.6 / 5 stars.

Why it stands out
The 2016 Honda Fit stands out because it combines a small footprint with a remarkably roomy cabin. In the third-generation Fit’s 2015-2020 run, Honda kept the Magic Seat system and expanded rear legroom by 4.9 inches over the previous generation, while also increasing overall interior space and providing 16.6 cubic feet of cargo room with the rear seat up and 52.7 cubic feet with it folded. That packaging makes the Fit especially appealing to buyers who want a practical hatchback that feels bigger inside than its size suggests.
It also brings a strong mix of efficiency and everyday usability. The 2016 model uses Honda’s 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with direct injection, rated at 130 horsepower and 114 pound-feet of torque, and it was offered with a standard six-speed manual or an optional continuously variable automatic transmission. EPA ratings reached 29 mpg city, 37 highway, and 32 combined with the manual, or up to 33 city, 41 highway, and 36 combined with the CVT. Standard safety equipment included stability control, hill-start assist, tire-pressure monitoring, and a rearview camera, while available features such as Honda LaneWatch and a 7-inch touchscreen added convenience.
For shoppers, the 2016 Fit’s appeal is its balance of space, fuel economy, and reputation for reliability. The third-generation Fit earned good reliability scores overall, and owner feedback in the provided summary praises its build quality, roomy interior, and fun driving experience. Its main drawbacks are also clear: the automatic can feel sluggish, highway noise is a complaint, and the technology is not especially modern by current standards.

The car is a great fit. While it’s missing some of the bells and whistles with the other trims, I like the size and it feels spacious compared to its counterparts.

Excellent build quality, most standard features and above average reliability. Handles well and pleasantly surprised acceleration in such a tiny car. And surprisingly spacious interior for the market of a sub compact car. Highly recommended! I’m in love with my little Fit! ❤️

It’s a great car. This is the fifth one we have had in our family. You can “fit” a ton of stuff in it. The competitor’s (Nissan Versa and Toyota Yaris) versions are golf carts compared to the Fit.

If you keep the car in clean condition and avoid overpaying upfront, you may be better positioned when it is time to sell. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2016 Honda Fit or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2016 if:
- 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 55.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices are up 4.46% year-over-year.
- Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $11,568, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $12,488 average.
- It blends a quirky personality with a more polished, practical feel.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market benchmark and are comfortable paying more for a well-liked model year, the 2016 is the better starting point. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2015 is the more budget-friendly path and still brings much of the Fit’s appeal.
