How much does the 2016 Honda Civic cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 2,746 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2016 Honda Civic a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Honda Civic earns a 4.9/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its smooth drive, reliability, and impressive fuel economy, and they also call out its stylish design and high safety ratings. The Civic’s more polished, upscale feel fits well if you want a compact car that still works as a commuter-friendly daily driver. With 30.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Honda Civic reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. Reviewers repeatedly point to reliability, and they also describe the car as smooth, efficient, and easy to live with over time. The expert summary also emphasizes thrift and dependability, while the performance notes highlight a balanced chassis and strong, linear power delivery that support everyday confidence. Honda Sensing is available on every sedan trim, which adds useful convenience and safety features without forcing you into a top trim. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the Civic’s core durability and more about making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained and cared for properly.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Honda Civic?

At 46.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had body damage or multiple owners. Focus on overall condition, signs of wear, and whether the equipment on the car matches the trim you think you’re buying. If you’re comparing several listings, the cleanest example is often the better value even if it costs a little more.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup ranges from LX to Touring, and the higher trims add more upscale presentation, including chrome accents, polished wheels, full LED lighting, a cleaner digital-style gauge layout, and more premium interior materials. The base trim is the one most likely to leave you without the richer look and feel that make this Civic stand out.
• Powertrain: A 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 158 horsepower is standard on the lower trims, while higher trims use a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder with 174 horsepower. The CVT is standard on most trims, and the manual transmission is limited to the base LX.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing includes forward-collision alert, auto braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. It is available on every sedan trim, while for the coupe it is only on the Touring.
• Infotainment: The system includes Android-based infotainment, Garmin navigation, pinch-to-zoom capability, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth streaming, and other app connectivity. The Touring version also gets a customizable digital instrument panel.
• Fuel efficiency: The CVT-equipped models are rated at 31 mpg city and 42 highway, while the manual LX gets 27/40.

Which 2016 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2016 Honda Civic is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-T, EX-L, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Civic without chasing extra equipment. It is also the only trim with the manual transmission, so it suits you if you want the simplest setup.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it moves you beyond the base car while staying below the more expensive turbo and luxury-oriented versions. It is a smart middle ground if you want a more complete Civic without stretching too far.
• EX-T: This trim is the step up if you want the turbocharged 1.5-liter engine and stronger performance. It gives you more power without going all the way to the top of the range.
• EX-L: This is the better choice if you want a more upscale feel and more comfort-focused equipment. It suits you if refinement matters more than keeping the price as low as possible.
• Touring: This is the most fully equipped version, with the richest presentation and the most premium features. Choose it if you want the Civic at its most polished.

Honda Sensing is available on every sedan trim, while for the coupe it is only on the Touring.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Honda Civic?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,746 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 46.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,328, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $13,791 sits slightly above last year's $13,716.

That small increase suggests the Civic has held its value fairly well, which is a good sign if you plan to sell later. Stable pricing also points to steady demand rather than a market that is weakening. Because this model year has strong owner satisfaction, it should remain appealing to used-car shoppers who want a compact car with a good reputation.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Honda Civic safe?

The 2016 Civic sedan earns five-star ratings from NHTSA for frontal crash, side crash, and rollover risk, and the Civic sedan and coupe both earned a Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing includes forward-collision alert, auto braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. On the sedan, that package is available on every trim, while on the coupe it is limited to the Touring. The backup camera also offers three views, including a top view and an extra-wide shot.

Should I buy a 2016 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 46.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2016 stands out for its bold step up in refinement, build quality, and upscale feel.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $12,180, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $13,791 average.
• It is a well-rounded compact car that emphasizes reliability, safety, fuel efficiency, quality, and value.

The bottom line: If you want the more polished and better-equipped Civic, the 2016 is the stronger pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2015 is the value play and still delivers the core Civic strengths.

How does the 2016 Honda Civic compare to the 2016 Toyota Corolla?

Our experts score the 2016 Honda Civic 8/10 and the 2016 Toyota Corolla 7.5/10. The Civic brings stronger performance, better fuel economy, and a more upscale feel, while the Corolla leans more toward affordability. You also get more listings to shop in the Civic market, though the Corolla has a slightly higher share of good and great deals.
