How much does the 2016 Honda Civic cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 2,657 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2016 Honda Civic a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Honda Civic earns a 4.86/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its smooth drive, reliability, and impressive fuel economy, and they also call out its stylish design and high safety ratings. That lines up with the overview’s focus on a more polished small car that still keeps the Civic’s thrift-and-dependability appeal. With 30.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Honda Civic reliable?

Owners rate it 4.86/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to reliability, and it also highlights the Civic’s smooth drive and impressive fuel economy, which usually matter to buyers who want a car they can count on day after day. The expert summary reinforces that this generation keeps the Civic’s long-standing reputation for thrift and dependability while adding more refinement. The result is a used car that should make sense for long-term ownership if you verify condition and maintenance history before buying.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Honda Civic?

At 46.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or airbag-related repairs. Focus on overall condition, panel alignment, interior wear, and how well the car’s electronics and safety systems operate. Because this model year has a wide spread of listings, it pays to compare examples carefully rather than assuming every car is equally clean.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup ranges from LX to Touring, and the higher trims add more upscale equipment and features. The base trim is the one most likely to leave you wanting more if you care about comfort and convenience.
• Powertrain: The lineup uses two four-cylinder engines, with the 2.0-liter standard on the lower trims and the turbocharged 1.5-liter on the higher trims. The manual transmission is limited to the base LX, while the rest use a CVT.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing includes forward-collision alert, auto braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. It is available on every sedan trim, while the coupe gets it only on Touring.
• Infotainment: The system includes Android-based customization, Garmin navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth streaming, and a customizable digital instrument panel on Touring.
• Fuel efficiency: The CVT-equipped models are rated at 31 mpg city and 42 highway, while the manual LX gets 27/40.

Which 2016 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2016 Honda Civic is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-T, EX-L, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Civic’s core strengths at the lowest price. It makes sense if you want the most affordable way into the lineup, but it is also the trim most likely to feel stripped down compared with the others.
• EX: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds more comfort and convenience without pushing you all the way to the top of the range. If you want a balanced daily driver, this is the trim to focus on first.
• EX-T: This trim is the step up if you want the turbocharged 1.5-liter engine. It suits you if you care more about stronger performance and a more upscale feel than about keeping the purchase price as low as possible.
• EX-L: This is the better pick if you want a more premium cabin and more equipment. It makes sense for shoppers who plan to keep the car a while and want a nicer ownership experience.
• Touring: This is the most fully equipped version, with the most upscale presentation and the most advanced features. It is the right choice if you want the nicest Civic in this lineup and are willing to pay for it.

Honda Sensing is available on every sedan trim, which makes the safety story especially strong even if you do not buy the top version.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Honda Civic?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,657 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 46.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,344, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $13,824 sits slightly below last year's $13,947.

That small decline suggests the market has stayed fairly stable rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For you as a future seller, that usually means the car should remain relatively predictable to price, especially if you keep mileage, condition, and service history in good shape. A well-kept example should still attract steady interest from shoppers who want a refined, efficient compact car.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Honda Civic safe?

The 2016 Civic sedan earns five-star ratings from NHTSA for frontal crash, side crash, and rollover risk, and the Civic sedan and coupe are both Top Safety Pick+ winners from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing includes forward-collision alert, auto braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. On the sedan, that package is available on every trim, while the coupe gets it only on Touring. The backup camera also offers three views, including a top view and an extra-wide shot.

Should I buy a 2016 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 46.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The all-new redesign brings a more refined feel, stronger build quality, and a more upscale small-car experience.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $12,306, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $13,824 average.
• It delivers reliability, safety, fuel efficiency, quality, and value in a straightforward compact package.

The bottom line: If you want the more polished and better-equipped Civic, the 2016 is the stronger pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2015 is the smarter budget alternative and still covers the basics very well.
