Why it stands out
Buying a 2016 Honda Accord is a good hedge against unanticipated expenses. Honda also made a number of improvements to the 2016 Accord, which helped make the popular family sedan better in several ways. In most respects, it is a terrific automobile.
At the same time, the car is not without flaws. The source notes that numerous small oversights remain and that, taken together, they create a steady, underlying thrum of aggravation. That makes the 2016 Honda Accord appealing for shoppers who want a well-regarded family sedan with broad strengths, but it also suggests that buyers should go in aware that some annoyances still linger.

The car had two bullet holes. One on the passenger side and one on the hood. It also had water spots and apparent water damage inside as evidenced by the rust to the seat tracks and numerous water stains in the seats. This car should not have been on the lot for sale.

My 2016 Honda Accord is a bad ass & a show stopper vehicle. I swear I am in love with my car aka Martha. The features such as the sport shift gears adds that Fast & Furious Vin Diesel speed and makes the drive more exciting. The paddle shifters are pretty neat and adds that tork speed as well. Honestly, the ovreally value of my car was well worth it, compared to the other sport cars I was seeking to potentially purchase. Honda was affordable and just as awesome with its features, cost and body style. I would compare my car to the BMW 4 Series. I love my Honda Accord Sport,.. And I get so man compliments on her..

| Current Average Price | $14,503 |
| Year-Round Low | $14,139 |
| Year-Round High | $14,782 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $14,736 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −1.58% |
Prices have softened 1.58% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 2,305 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.
Is the 2016 Honda Accord a good car?
Generally — the 2016 Honda Accord earns a 4.38/5 user rating and a 6.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.
Drivers consistently praise its comfort, reliability, and impressive gas mileage, and many also value the safety features and interior quality. That lines up well with the Accord’s role as a broad-appeal family sedan that aims to balance everyday usability with a polished driving experience. At the same time, the car’s small oversights and quality complaints mean you should shop carefully rather than assume every example will feel equally sorted.
Only 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is selective rather than flooded with bargains.
Is the 2016 Honda Accord reliable?
Owners rate it 4.38/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The user feedback points to reliability, trouble-free ownership, and long-term confidence as recurring strengths, with many drivers saying they trust the car for daily use. The expert evaluation also frames it as a good hedge against unanticipated expenses, helped by favorable reliability ratings and low insurance costs. Honda’s cost-effectiveness notes add that the Accord can be an affordable family car to own over time.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that some examples may have accumulated the kinds of small flaws and quality issues that can turn into recurring annoyances.
What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Honda Accord?
At 43.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has any accident history or signs of uneven wear. Focus on body condition, repair quality, and whether the car’s safety and convenience features work as intended. Because the model has a mix of strengths and lingering annoyances, a clean, well-kept example matters more than usual.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Accord LX is the most basic version, while the Sport, EX, EX-L, and Touring add more equipment and a more upscale feel. The base setup is the most stripped-down, and the Touring is the most fully equipped choice.
- Powertrain: Most versions use a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine, with the Sport tuned to 189 hp. The EX-L can be optioned with a V6, and the Touring also gets the V6, which delivers much stronger passing power and highway performance.
- Safety package: Honda Sensing includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, road-departure prevention, and adaptive cruise control. It is standard on the Touring and available on every version, but you cannot pair it with the manual transmission.
- Infotainment: Higher trims get a 7-inch touchscreen with HondaLink, Siri Eyes Free, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The LX and Sport miss out on this system.
- Fuel efficiency: The V6 test car averaged 24.6 mpg on one loop and returned better than 34 mpg at highway speeds above 70 mph.
Which 2016 Honda Accord trim should I buy?
The 2016 Honda Accord is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, Touring.
Here's the short version:
- LX: This is the value-focused starting point if you want the Accord’s core strengths at the lowest entry price, but it skips the upgraded touchscreen infotainment found higher up the range.
- Sport: This trim adds a slightly stronger 4-cylinder tune and a more athletic feel, making it a good pick if you want a little more personality without moving into the pricier trims.
- EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it unlocks the 7-inch touchscreen, HondaLink, Siri Eyes Free, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
- EX-L: Choose this if you want a more upscale cabin and the option to step up to the V6 for stronger performance.
- Touring: This is the most fully equipped version, with the V6 and standard Honda Sensing, so it makes the most sense if you want the most features and the strongest all-around package.
Honda Sensing is standard on the Touring, and it is available across the lineup except when paired with the manual transmission.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Honda Accord?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully but not so much that every listing is a bargain.
- Deal availability: 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,305 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.58% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 43.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $14,139, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2016 Honda Accord's resale value?
The current average of $14,503 sits slightly below last year's $14,736.
That modest decline suggests the market has softened a bit, which can help you as a buyer today but may temper what you recover later as a seller. If you plan to resell, condition and maintenance history will matter a lot, because cleaner examples should stand out more clearly in a market where prices have eased. The Accord’s broad appeal still supports demand, but you should not expect a dramatic upside if you buy at the wrong price.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.38/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2016 Honda Accord safe?
The 2016 Honda Accord earns four-star ratings for frontal-impact protection from NHTSA and top marks in every other assessment performed by NHTSA and IIHS.
It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.
Honda Sensing is the key driver-assistance suite here, and it includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, road-departure prevention, and adaptive cruise control. It is available on every version of the Accord, but you cannot combine it with the manual transmission. The main caveat is that rear cross-traffic alert and a traditional blind-spot warning system are not part of the package, and LaneWatch only covers the right side.
Should I buy a 2016 Honda Accord or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2016 if:
- 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 43.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.58% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.38/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- Honda added meaningful improvements this year, including Honda Sensing availability and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto on higher trims.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $13,292, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $14,503 average.
- It is described as exceptionally well-engineered and likely to provide dependable service for many years.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around package, the 2016 is the better target because it adds meaningful updates while still sitting in a reasonable price band. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2015 is the smarter value play, especially if you find a clean example with a strong service history.
