How much does the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 9.97% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,491 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 4.25/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise its comfort, features, and smooth ride, and many also like the upscale Denali trim and thoughtful design touches. The Sierra’s mix of work-truck usefulness and a more premium feel makes it appealing if you want a full-size pickup that can handle daily driving without feeling stripped down. With 31.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.25/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback highlights dependable comfort and a smooth driving experience, but it also points to some reliability concerns, especially with the air conditioning and transmission. That means you should treat maintenance history and current mechanical condition as especially important on a used example. For long-term ownership, the main risk is buying a truck that has already developed the kinds of issues owners have flagged.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 GMC Sierra 1500?

At 63.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on the transmission, air conditioning, and overall mechanical condition, since those are the areas that matter most for ownership confidence. It also helps to compare service records and look closely at wear items, because condition can vary widely across used trucks.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 GMC Sierra 1500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right truck.

• Deal availability: 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,491 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.97% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,403, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $20,403 sits slightly below last year's $22,662.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy at a better entry point but may also limit near-term upside if you plan to resell soon. A truck priced competitively today may still hold appeal because full-size pickups tend to attract steady shopper interest. Condition, mileage, and maintenance history will matter a lot if you want to protect value later.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.25/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.97% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.25/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $18,842, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $20,403 average.
• It offers a polished cabin with practical comfort features.

The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced choice, the 2016 is the stronger target because it combines a lower current price than last year with solid owner satisfaction and broad market availability. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2015 is the better secondary path, especially if you find one with strong maintenance records and clean condition.
