Is the 2016 GMC Acadia a good car?

Generally — the 4.33/5 user rating points to a well-liked used SUV for shoppers who want a roomy, family-oriented crossover with a more traditional full-size SUV feel than many newer midsize alternatives. The overview also frames it as a comfort-first vehicle that was designed to replace several three-row models, so it fits best if you value affordability, space, and everyday usability over performance or capability. Its appeal is strongest if you want a practical family hauler with a more upscale feel in higher trims. Deal availability remains decent, with 31.1% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2016 GMC Acadia reliable?

Owners rate it 4.33/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview suggests the 2016 Acadia is one of the better-regarded years in its lineup, which is a helpful sign if you want a used SUV with a more favorable reputation within its generation. It was built around comfort and practicality rather than complexity, which can be reassuring for everyday ownership. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that age and prior use matter more than the model’s broad reputation, so condition and maintenance history should carry real weight.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 GMC Acadia?

At 61% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can catch hidden body, suspension, or mechanical issues. Focus closely on overall condition, because a family-oriented crossover like this can vary a lot depending on how it was maintained and used. If a listing looks especially clean, make sure the paperwork and inspection support that impression.

What is the 2016 GMC Acadia's resale value?

The current average of $10,385 sits slightly below last year's $11,574.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make future resale more sensitive to mileage, condition, and equipment. If you buy at the right price now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. Well-kept examples should still draw interest from shoppers who want a roomy, comfort-focused crossover with a familiar layout.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 GMC Acadia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.28% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $13,116, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $10,385 average.
• It brings a smaller, lighter redesign with a more modern feel.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2016 if you want the lower price, stronger value, and a more traditional three-row crossover feel. If you can spend more and want the redesigned 2017’s newer packaging and updated engineering, that’s the better secondary path for buyers who care more about modernization than price.
