What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Ford Expedition?

At 62.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Put inspection priority on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of inconsistent repairs, then make sure the interior, electronics, and drivability all match the seller’s description. Because this is a large SUV, it also makes sense to focus on overall condition and maintenance records rather than appearance alone.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Ford Expedition?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.09% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,057, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Ford Expedition's resale value?

The current average of $13,257 sits slightly below last year's $14,269.

That decline suggests the market has softened, which can make resale timing more important if you plan to sell later. If you buy at a strong price now and keep the vehicle in good condition, you may be better positioned to limit depreciation pressure. Demand should remain supported by the model’s family-friendly space and utility.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Ford Expedition or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.09% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $11,610, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $13,257 average.
• It brings a notable efficiency-minded powertrain update.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger current-market balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction, the 2016 is the better primary target. If your main goal is spending less upfront, the 2015 is the more budget-friendly path and still gives you the Expedition’s core strengths.
