This car is so much fun to drive. Its great on fuel and all the little bells and whistles (GPS, Bluetooth, parking assist) make it a step above. The suspension is a little stiff, so Ill be looking at helping that, but otherwise, its a great little car and Im super happy with it.

The car I viewed wasnt worth the asking price. Had some major issues. Now if it had been up to standard etc. Then yes they are good cars. The drivers side door handle was missing the windshield was cracked badly, the engine was running very rough, and Vibrated and pulled to the right. Would not pay for what they were asking... $9950.00 Cost more to have everything repaired. But once again these are good cars if you find a good one.

How much does the 2016 FIAT 500X cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $8,020 |
| Year-Round Low | $7,910 |
| Year-Round High | $8,718 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $8,727 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −8.10% |
Prices have softened 8.10% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 164 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
Is the 2016 FIAT 500X a good car?
Generally — 4.2/5 from owners and 7/10 from our experts. The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.
Owners consistently praise the 500X for its fun driving experience, attractive design, affordability, good fuel economy, and handy features like GPS and Bluetooth. That lines up with the overview: you’re looking at a small crossover that aims to be stylish and useful, with appeal for shoppers who want something more distinctive than a typical compact SUV.
The market also shows 29.9% good or great deals, so you have some room to shop selectively while still finding value.
Is the 2016 FIAT 500X reliable?
Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback points to a model that can be satisfying when you get a good one, but it also mentions rough engine performance and interior damage on some cars, so reliability depends heavily on the specific vehicle you choose. The expert review also notes that the 500X is a vehicle where reliability matters a great deal, and that it could go either way over the long run.
The expert review adds that the 500X is built with long-term dependability in mind, but it also flags uncertainty around how it will hold up over time. For used buyers, that means you should treat maintenance history and overall condition as major decision points.
What should I look for when buying a used 2016 FIAT 500X?
At 65.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, interior condition, and any signs of prior repair. Because some owners reported rough engine performance and interior damage, it’s smart to focus on how the car drives, how it shifts, and whether the cabin shows wear that doesn’t match the mileage.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Pop trim has a contrast-color dashboard insert and a 2-tone appearance for the seats and door panels, while Lounge and Trekking Plus models can add leather with deep brown seat surfaces and door panel inserts. The Trekking models bring more rugged styling cues, so the base trim is the one most likely to feel lightest on visual and comfort features.
- Powertrain: Most versions use a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine with 180 hp, paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The AWD system is designed to disconnect the rear axle when extra grip is not needed, which helps efficiency.
- Safety package: Depending on configuration, you can get forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with active lane assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-path detection, rear parking assist sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high-beam headlights. Some of these features are optional rather than standard, so check the exact build carefully.
- Infotainment: The available Uconnect system uses a 6.5-inch screen with easy-to-use controls, and it supports navigation. The system is user-friendly, but Uconnect Access services are not offered with it.
- Fuel efficiency: The front-drive model is rated at 22 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined. The AWD model is rated at 24 mpg combined.
Which 2016 FIAT 500X trim should I buy?
The 2016 FIAT 500X is offered in 5 trim levels: Pop, Easy, Lounge, Trekking, and Trekking Plus.
Here's the short version:
- Pop: This is the entry point, and it already gets the 500X’s distinctive style, including the contrast-color dashboard insert and 2-tone seat and door-panel treatment. If you want the lowest-cost way into the model, this is the trim to start with, but it is also the one most likely to feel lightest on features.
- Easy: This trim sits above the base model and is a sensible step up if you want a little more equipment without moving too far up the price ladder. It’s the trim to consider if you want a balanced buy rather than the most stripped-down version.
- Lounge: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more upscale feel, and the review specifically highlights a Lounge with the optional package that adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-path detection, and rear parking-assist sensors for a modest price. If you want the strongest mix of style, comfort, and available safety tech, this is the one to target.
- Trekking: Choose this if you want the more rugged styling cues called out in the review. It’s the better fit if you care more about the 500X’s tougher look than about the most upscale cabin presentation.
- Trekking Plus: This is the most distinctive-looking version in the lineup, with the same more rugged styling cues and the option for leather and richer interior materials. It suits you best if you want the most expressive appearance and a more premium-feeling cabin.
For safety-minded shoppers, note that several driver-assistance features are configuration-dependent rather than universal, so verify the exact equipment on any used example.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 FIAT 500X?
This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.
- Deal availability: 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 164 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.10% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 65.2% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $7,910, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2016 FIAT 500X's resale value?
The current average of $8,020 sits slightly below last year's $8,727.
That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you can reduce the impact of that depreciation trend.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2016 FIAT 500X safe?
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
Depending on configuration, you can get forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with active lane assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-path detection, rear parking assist sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high-beam headlights. One caveat is that 911 Assist emergency calling is unavailable for this model, and the review also notes trouble with the LATCH system.
Should I buy a 2016 FIAT 500X or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2016 if:
- 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 65.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.10% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- The expert review says the 500X is off to a good start and could be a meaningful win for Fiat if it proves reliable and safe.
The bottom line: The 2016 model year makes sense if you want the strongest mix of style, value, and available inventory in this generation. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the softened market and decent deal share make this a good year to shop carefully and negotiate hard.
How does the 2016 FIAT 500X compare to the 2016 Jeep Renegade?
Our experts score the 2016 FIAT 500X 7/10 and the 2016 Jeep Renegade 6.7/10.
The 500X edges ahead on expert score, average used price, and deal share, while the Renegade has far more listings to choose from. The 500X also posts slightly better fuel economy and a higher accident-free share, which may matter if you want a cleaner, more efficient used pick. The Renegade’s larger inventory can make it easier to shop trims and prices, but the 500X looks like the stronger value if you find a well-kept example.
