This car is so much fun to drive. Its great on fuel and all the little bells and whistles (GPS, Bluetooth, parking assist) make it a step above. The suspension is a little stiff, so Ill be looking at helping that, but otherwise, its a great little car and Im super happy with it.

The car I viewed wasnt worth the asking price. Had some major issues. Now if it had been up to standard etc. Then yes they are good cars. The drivers side door handle was missing the windshield was cracked badly, the engine was running very rough, and Vibrated and pulled to the right. Would not pay for what they were asking... $9950.00 Cost more to have everything repaired. But once again these are good cars if you find a good one.

At 64.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has any signs of prior bodywork or interior damage. Focus on how the car drives, how the engine behaves, and whether the cabin shows wear that seems out of step with the mileage. Because some owners reported rough engine performance and interior damage on specific cars, condition should matter more than trim or appearance.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The Pop trim is the simplest version, while the Easy, Lounge, Trekking, and Trekking Plus add more equipment and style. The base trim stands out for its contrast-color dashboard insert and two-tone seat and door-panel treatment, while the Trekking models bring more rugged styling cues and the Lounge or Trekking Plus can be had with leather.
- Powertrain: Most versions use a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with 180 hp, paired with a 9-speed automatic and either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The setup is tuned to balance everyday drivability and fuel economy, and the AWD system is designed to disconnect the rear axle when extra grip is not needed.
- Safety package: Depending on configuration, you can get forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with active lane assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-path detection, rear parking assist sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high-beam headlights. Some of these features are tied to higher configurations, so check carefully before assuming a used listing has them.
- Infotainment: The available 6.5-inch Uconnect system is the main screen setup here, and it keeps the interface easy to use. It supports wireless-style convenience features through straightforward pairing and voice functions, but it does not include the top-shelf 8.4-inch display, and Uconnect Access services are not offered with it.
- Fuel efficiency: The front-wheel-drive model is rated at 22 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined, while the all-wheel-drive version is rated at 24 mpg combined. In testing, the vehicle returned 21.9 mpg over a week and 25.6 mpg on a standard loop.
Which 2016 FIAT 500X trim should I buy?
The 2016 FIAT 500X is offered in 5 trim levels: Pop, Easy, Lounge, Trekking, and Trekking Plus.
Here's the short version:
- Pop: This is the simplest way into the 500X, and it still gets the model’s distinctive interior design touches. If you want the lowest-cost path into the lineup and can live without the richer equipment and styling of the higher trims, this is the one to start with.
- Easy: This trim sits above the base model and is a sensible step up if you want a little more content without jumping all the way to the more upscale versions. It makes the 500X feel less stripped-down while staying relatively approachable.
- Lounge: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it balances style, comfort, and available equipment well. It can be paired with leather and was the test vehicle’s trim, which suggests it captures much of the 500X’s appeal without needing to go all the way to the top.
- Trekking: Choose this if you want the more rugged styling cues called out in the review. It is the right pick if you like the 500X’s design but want a more adventurous look.
- Trekking Plus: This is the most upscale-looking version in the lineup, with the same more rugged styling direction as Trekking and the option for leather. If you want the most distinctive appearance and a richer cabin, this is the trim to target.
A loaded 500X Lounge can be equipped with a blind-spot monitoring system, rear cross-path detection, and rear parking-assist sensors, so check whether those safety features are present on any used example you’re considering.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 FIAT 500X?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.
- Deal availability: 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 165 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.87% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 64.8% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $7,912, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2016 FIAT 500X's resale value?
The current average of $7,988 sits slightly below last year's $8,863.
That decline suggests the 500X is still in a softer pricing environment, which can be good news if you are buying now but less favorable if you are planning to sell soon. A future seller should expect value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and documentation, because the market is already discounting the model relative to last year. Clean, well-kept examples should hold up better than neglected ones, especially given the model’s mixed reputation for long-term ownership confidence.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.17/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2016 FIAT 500X safe?
The 2016 FIAT 500X has not been crash tested by NHTSA or IIHS in the material provided, so there is no crash-test lead to cite here.
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
Depending on configuration, you can get forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with active lane assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-path detection, rear parking assist sensors, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic high-beam headlights. The main caveat is that some of these features are not standard across the lineup, so you should verify exactly what a used listing includes before assuming it has the full safety suite.
Should I buy a 2016 FIAT 500X or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2016 if:
- 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 64.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 9.87% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.17/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- The expert review says the 500X is a credible entry in the small crossover SUV segment and highlights its attractive design, affordable price point, and fun driving experience.
The bottom line: The 2016 model is the one to focus on if you want the strongest mix of price relief, decent inventory, and the core 500X appeal. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can use the softer market to target a clean, well-equipped example rather than settling for the first cheap listing you see.
