Used 2016 Dodge Challenger for Sale nearAlbuquerque, NM

How much does the 2016 Dodge Challenger cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 1,263 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2016 Dodge Challenger a good car?

Yes — 4.76/5 from owners and 7.83/10 from experts point to a strong overall case for this model year. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise the powerful performance, unique styling, and spacious interior. The muscle-car feel and retro design are recurring positives, and many owners also like the driving experience and engine options.

For you, that means the Challenger makes the most sense if you want a style-first performance coupe with real everyday usability. It is less compelling if you prioritize upscale cabin materials or outward visibility.

27.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is still meaningful value in the market if you shop carefully.

Is the 2016 Dodge Challenger reliable?

Owners rate it 4.76/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a car that many drivers find dependable and satisfying over time, with strong performance and a driving experience that keeps them happy after purchase. The review summary also suggests that the engine choices and overall character help create lasting appeal.

The expert evaluation also emphasizes that the Challenger is built around a durable, long-haul muscle-car identity rather than a delicate specialty car. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that condition can vary widely, so maintenance history and wear items matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Dodge Challenger?

At 55.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or multiple owners. Focus on signs of uneven wear, repair quality, and whether the car has been maintained consistently. Because this model can be bought in many different configurations, condition matters as much as trim.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SXT includes keyless entry and ignition, automatic headlights with LED halo running lights, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear vents, a 5-inch touchscreen, and a 6-way power driver’s seat. The Plus versions add an 8.4-inch touchscreen with smartphone integration and voice command, satellite radio, leather upholstery, heated and vented front seats, and a heated steering wheel, while the SRT 392 adds Brembo brakes, forged alloy wheels, adaptive suspension, and an 18-speaker Harman Kardon stereo.
• Powertrain: The 3.6-liter V6 makes 305 hp and 268 lb-ft of torque, while the 5.7-liter V8 delivers 375 hp and 410 lb-ft. Scat Pack and SRT 392 trims use a 6.4-liter V8 with 485 hp and 475 lb-ft, and the Hellcat uses a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 with 707 hp and 650 lb-ft.
• Safety package: The Driver Convenience Group adds bi-xenon headlights, power-folding mirrors, rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and remote ignition with the automatic. The Technology Group adds automatic wipers, automatic high beams, and forward-collision warning, while the automatic also brings adaptive cruise.
• Infotainment: Base models get a 5-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, auxiliary and USB inputs, and an SD card slot. Plus trims add an 8.4-inch touchscreen with voice command, satellite radio, and smartphone integration, and the Super Track Pack adds performance metrics to the infotainment system.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 returns 19 mpg city and 30 highway, with a combined rating of 23. The 5.7-liter V8 is rated at 15 mpg city and 23 highway with the manual, or 16 mpg city and 25 highway with the automatic, while the 6.4-liter V8 is described as giving up only 1 mpg around town compared with the 5.7-liter.

Which 2016 Dodge Challenger trim should I buy?

The 2016 Dodge Challenger is offered in 5 trim levels: SXT, R/T, SXT Plus, R/T Plus, and SRT 392.

Here's the short version:

• SXT: This is the entry point if you want the Challenger’s look and everyday usability at the lowest cost. It gives you the core features, the V6, and the basic infotainment setup, so it suits buyers who care more about style and value than V8 power.
• R/T: This is the best-value choice if you want the classic muscle-car experience without jumping to the pricier performance trims. You get the V8, a rear-view camera, 20-inch wheels, upgraded brakes, and a spoiler, which makes it the most balanced step up for many shoppers.
• SXT Plus: Choose this if you want the base V6 but also want the nicer cabin and tech upgrades. The larger touchscreen, smartphone integration, leather, heated and vented seats, and heated steering wheel make it a better fit if comfort matters.
• R/T Plus: This is for you if you want the V8 plus the upgraded interior and tech package. It adds the same comfort and infotainment improvements as the SXT Plus, but with the stronger engine and rear-view camera already included on the R/T.
• SRT 392: This is the performance-focused choice, with Brembo brakes, forged alloy wheels, adaptive suspension, a unique intake, sport steering, and the 18-speaker Harman Kardon stereo. It suits buyers who want the most serious factory hardware short of the Hellcat.

The Driver Convenience Group adds useful safety and visibility features, and the Technology Group adds more advanced driver assistance.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Dodge Challenger?

This is a moderate market, so you can buy now if the right car shows up, but you should still compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 27.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,263 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 55.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,482, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Dodge Challenger's resale value?

The current average of $24,648 sits slightly below last year's $24,775.

That small decline suggests a fairly stable resale picture rather than a sharp drop. If you buy well and keep the car in good condition, you should be able to avoid the worst of depreciation pressure.

Because the market has been steady, future resale will likely depend more on trim, mileage, and condition than on broad price swings. Well-kept examples with desirable equipment should remain easier to move than rougher cars with incomplete history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.76/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Dodge Challenger safe?

The 2016 Dodge Challenger earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal crash and five-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Challenger can be equipped with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, a rear-view camera, and parking sensors. The Driver Convenience Group adds bi-xenon headlights and power-folding mirrors, while the Technology Group adds automatic wipers and automatic high beams.

One caveat is that the frontal crash rating trails the rest of its NHTSA results, so you should pay attention to the specific safety equipment on the car you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2016 Dodge Challenger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 27.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.76/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds fresh trim and wheel options, plus the shaker hood.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $21,244, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $24,648 average.
• It blends retro style with everyday livability.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $20,594, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $24,648 average.
• All-wheel drive broadens its appeal for calmer daily driving.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of style, performance, and market stability, the 2016 is the one to target. If your priority is saving money, the 2015 and 2017 can make sense, but you should expect to give up some of the 2016’s specific appeal and shopping momentum.
