Is the 2016 Chevrolet Impala a good car?

The 2016 Chevrolet Impala stands out as a big, comfortable full-size sedan that emphasizes space, ride quality, and easy-to-use technology. It offers a cavernous interior, a silky-smooth ride, and generous standard features, while also feeling more upscale inside than its price tag might suggest thanks to soft-touch materials and available leather and upscale finishes.

For you, that means the Impala makes the most sense if you want a roomy daily driver with a large rear seat, strong visibility, and a trunk that ranks among the best in its class. Its MyLink infotainment system, 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and USB inputs add to the appeal if you value straightforward tech in a traditional sedan.

29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a decent chance to find a competitive offer.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Impala reliable?

The 2016 Chevrolet Impala has a strong reputation for reliability among modern Impalas, with the best repair record of any modern version so far. That makes it a reassuring choice if you want a large sedan that balances comfort with a solid ownership track record.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained well, since condition and service history matter more than the model’s general reputation.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Impala?

At 47.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can confirm the car’s structural and mechanical condition. Focus especially on signs of prior bodywork, uneven panel gaps, and any wear that suggests the car has had a harder life than the listing photos imply.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Impala?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 527 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.69% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 47.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,799, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Impala's resale value?

The current average of $10,799 sits slightly below last year's $11,331.

That price movement suggests the Impala has softened enough to give you a better entry point today than a year ago. If you buy carefully and keep the car in strong condition, you may be able to limit further depreciation pressure when it comes time to sell. For a future seller, the key will be presenting a clean history and well-documented maintenance to help the car stand out in a market where values have already eased.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Impala or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 47.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.69% compared with last year.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $10,359, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $10,799 average.
• It remains easy to live with and predictable on the road.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2016 if you want the stronger overall value proposition and are willing to shop carefully for a clean example. If your top priority is spending less up front, the 2015 is the better secondary path, especially if you find one with a solid history and good condition.
