What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Equinox?

At 61.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether the car has any accident or damage records. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention to engine condition, maintenance documentation, and signs of oil-related issues. Focus on overall mechanical health and repair history, because those factors matter more than cosmetic appeal on this model year.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Equinox?

• Inventory: There are 2,288 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.62% compared with last year.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox's resale value?

The current average of $9,437 sits slightly below last year's $10,106.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed some of its depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. For you, the key is to avoid overpaying now, because a lower entry price gives you more room to recover value later. Well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones, especially if they have strong service records and clean history.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.47/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 27.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.62% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.47/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $8,253, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $9,437 average.
• It offers a simpler, tried-and-true family-crossover setup.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2016 if you want the better-equipped, more current-feeling choice and can verify condition carefully. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2015 is the better value play, especially if you find a clean example with a solid maintenance record.
