What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Equinox?

At 62% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can catch hidden damage or repair issues. Focus closely on overall condition, maintenance records, and signs of past bodywork, since those details can matter more than mileage alone. If a listing looks unusually cheap, make sure the condition story supports the price.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox's resale value?

The current average of $9,362 sits slightly below last year's $10,003.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed some of its near-term depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stays steady. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be better positioned to limit losses later. Demand should remain supported by the model's broad appeal and practical layout.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox or consider a different year?

Choose the 2016 if:

• 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.41% compared with last year.

• It offers straightforward versatility and a practical family-friendly layout.

The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced shopping opportunity, the 2016 is the stronger pick thanks to its lower current pricing, solid owner satisfaction, and decent deal availability. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2015 is the better value-focused alternative.
