How much does the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro cost?

Prices have softened 3.95% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,271 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro a good car?

Generally — the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro earns 4.4/5 from owners and 7.3/10 from our experts. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its sporty design, smooth ride, powerful performance, advanced technology, and handling capabilities. The Camaro’s completely redesigned body and more modern interior help it feel more refined, while the overview also points to its appeal if you want sporty style with updated hardware underneath.

That said, the Camaro is still a car for buyers who can live with limited practicality. The overview and owner feedback both point to visibility concerns and a cabin that can feel cramped for taller drivers.

With 28.2% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback highlights the Camaro as a car people tend to enjoy over time for its strong performance, sporty design, and smooth ride. The expert evaluation also emphasizes its refined platform and well-weighted steering, which supports the sense that it can feel composed and dependable in daily use.

The ownership tradeoff is that this is still a performance coupe, so condition matters more than it would on a simpler commuter car. For used buyers, that means you should pay close attention to maintenance history and how hard the car has been driven.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Camaro?

At 54.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks for prior bodywork, alignment issues, and signs of hard use. Because visibility is a known weakness, you should also evaluate whether the car’s condition and equipment make it comfortable for your driving needs.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 2LT automatic 4-cylinder adds push-button start, an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a Bose premium stereo, and the 8-inch MyLink touchscreen. It is the best-value choice if you want the most comfort and tech without moving up to the pricier V6 or V8 setups.
• Powertrain: The base engine is a turbocharged inline 4-cylinder with 275 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. You can also step up to a 3.6-liter V6 with 335 horsepower and 284 pound-feet of torque, while the SS uses a 6.2-liter V8 with 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes StabiliTrak stability control, traction control, advanced dual-stage airbags, and a backup camera. The Convenience and Lighting package adds rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts.
• Infotainment: The Camaro uses the 8-inch MyLink touchscreen, and the system supports CarPlay. The tech setup also includes a head-up display on the test vehicle.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbo four with the 8-speed automatic returns 22 mpg city, 31 highway, and 25 combined. The V6 automatic test car achieves 19 mpg city, 28 highway, and 23 combined.

Which 2016 Chevrolet Camaro trim should I buy?

The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is offered in 3 trim levels: 2LT, SS, and 2LT automatic 4-cylinder.

Here's the short version:

• 2LT: This is the best-value trim if you want the Camaro’s modern cabin upgrades, stronger comfort features, and the 8-inch MyLink touchscreen without jumping to the more expensive performance models. It also gives you the most balanced mix of daily livability and equipment.
• SS: Choose this if you want the full V8 experience and the strongest straight-line performance. It is the right pick if performance matters more to you than price, efficiency, or everyday practicality.
• 2LT automatic 4-cylinder: This is the most affordable path into the redesigned Camaro and makes the most sense if you want the updated interior and tech at a lower price point.

The safety content notes that the Camaro’s visibility is a major drawback, so you should pay close attention to sight lines and available driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Camaro?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 28.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,271 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.95% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 54.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,025, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro's resale value?

The current average of $21,985 sits slightly below last year's $22,890.

That softer pricing suggests the Camaro is in a buyer-friendly phase right now, which can help you if you plan to sell later by keeping your entry cost lower. If the market stabilizes, a well-kept example bought at today’s average could be easier to move than one purchased when prices were higher.

Condition will matter a lot at resale because shoppers in this segment tend to compare equipment, appearance, and history closely. A clean, well-maintained Camaro should hold more appeal than one with accident history or visible wear.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro safe?

The Camaro earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes StabiliTrak stability control, traction control, advanced dual-stage airbags, and a backup camera. The Convenience and Lighting package adds rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts, which help offset some of the car’s visibility challenges.

The main caveat is that visibility is a major weakness, especially because the Camaro’s thick pillars create poor sight lines. That means you should treat the available driver-assistance features as helpful support, not a substitute for careful driving and parking.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 28.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 54.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.95% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It brings a completely redesigned body, a more refined platform, and updated infotainment tech.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $23,457, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $21,985 average.
• It emphasizes stronger performance identity and more of a driver-focused personality.

The bottom line: Choose the 2016 if you want the better value and the redesigned Camaro experience at a lower price. Consider the 2017 if you are willing to pay more for a newer model year and can live with its higher average price.

How does the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro compare to the 2016 Ford Mustang?

Our experts score the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro 7.3/10 and the 2016 Ford Mustang 7.5/10. The Mustang edges ahead on expert score and starts at a lower price, while the Camaro counters with stronger city fuel economy and a more modern-feeling redesign. The Camaro also has a higher average used price and fewer listings, so you may need to shop a bit harder for the right example.
