CarGurus Analysis: 2016 Buick LaCrosse

Summary
With 371 currently listed for sale and an average price of $12,275, 29.4% of 2016 Buick LaCrosses for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2016 Buick LaCrosse 5 / 5 stars.

Why it stands out
The 2016 Buick LaCrosse stands out as a comfortable, quietly upscale sedan that leans more toward relaxed cruising than sporty driving. Buick gave this generation a curvaceous shape, a clean exterior, and a cabin that was meant to feel modern, while the chassis was shared with the Cadillac XTS and the Saab 9-5. It also benefited from HiPer Strut front suspension, which was designed to help reduce torque steer, and Buick’s QuietTuning approach helped reinforce the car’s calm, insulated character.
For 2016, the LaCrosse added a power driver’s seat, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and updated IntelliLink infotainment, along with a Sport Touring package that included a spoiler and 18-inch wheels. That mix of comfort and technology makes it appealing to buyers who want a traditional sedan with useful modern features. It is not the most engaging choice, though, and the source also notes that early generations were gas guzzlers and that the styling was not universally loved. Still, the 2016 LaCrosse offers a roomy, quiet, and well-equipped alternative for shoppers who value comfort and a more premium feel over image or driving excitement.

Rides beautifully. The leather seats are very comfortable and road noise is virtually eliminated. The built in Apple Carplay connected to my phone in 30 seconds and the operation is flawless. The 3.6 liter V6 offers plenty of power for a larger sedan. I drove a 2015 Lexus RX 350 for six months and in comparing the two, the Lacrosse has more power, better leather seats, a quiter ride and has a more solid feel.

The reliability rating for the Buick LaCrosse are at the top of similar cars. It’s interior is luxurious and comfortable for both front and back seat riders. It’s large but sleek and the ride smooth and quiet. The only minor deficit is that the trunk is smaller than you’d imagine, however the back seats will fold down to fit more cargo

The ride was great. We bought it because of the safety features--especially the warning if there is a vehicle approaching in your blind spot. Also, the rear view camera is great to let you know if someone comes flying up in back of you while you are preparing to back out of a parking space.

Not only is the Lacrosse an extremely comfortable ride, it has the technology you want in a car. Plus the fuel economy is better than the Honda Accord Coupe I owned prior to this one. I’ve loved my Lacrosse enough that my family have bought ones for themselves.

How much does the 2016 Buick LaCrosse cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $12,252 |
| Year-Round Low | $11,632 |
| Year-Round High | $13,277 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $12,312 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −0.49% |
Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.
There are 369 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
Is the 2016 Buick LaCrosse a good car?
Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the comfort, the smooth ride, and the luxurious interior, and they also highlight useful technology such as blind spot warnings and Apple CarPlay. For you, that makes this a strong fit if you want a roomy, quiet sedan with a more premium feel and modern convenience features rather than a sporty driving experience. With 29.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2016 Buick LaCrosse reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owners describe it as reliable and appreciate its trouble-free character, along with the confidence it inspires for long-term ownership. That kind of feedback matters if you want a used sedan you can count on for everyday driving. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is choosing a car with hidden wear or poor maintenance history, so condition matters as much as the rating.
What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Buick LaCrosse?
At 61.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with accident records or title issues. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on body condition, interior wear, electronics, and signs of uneven repair. Because this model is valued for comfort and refinement, you will want to pay close attention to how well the cabin, ride quality, and features have held up.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Buick LaCrosse?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 369 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 61.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $11,632, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2016 Buick LaCrosse's resale value?
The current average of $12,252 sits slightly below last year's $12,312.
That small decline suggests the market has been fairly stable, which is helpful if you plan to sell later because it points to predictable pricing rather than sharp swings. A steady price trend can make it easier for you to estimate future trade-in or private-party value. Strong owner satisfaction also helps support demand, especially for shoppers who want comfort and a premium-feeling sedan without paying luxury-brand prices.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2016 Buick LaCrosse or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2016 if:
- 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 61.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2017 if:
- At $15,823, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $12,252 average.
- The redesign brings a more premium, modern feel.
The bottom line:
You should lean toward the 2016 if you want the better value and a comfortable, well-liked sedan with stable pricing. If you are willing to spend more for a newer redesign and a more upscale presentation, the 2017 is the stronger upgrade path. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2016 is the more practical choice.
