CarGurus Analysis: 2016 Buick Cascada
overall

Summary
With 137 currently listed for sale and an average price of $13,304, 29.9% of 2016 Buick Cascadas for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2016 Buick Cascada 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.17 / 10.
63.5% of 2016 Cascada models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2016 Buick Cascada stands out as Buick’s first convertible in 25 years, and it leans into a classic boulevard-cruiser personality rather than a modern, cutting-edge one. Buick tapped Opel for the car, and the result is a bulky ragtop that is more about relaxed open-air motoring than chasing the latest trends. That old-school character is a big part of its appeal for buyers who want a stylish convertible with a traditional feel.
What makes the 2016 Buick Cascada distinctive is the way it combines attractive styling with an enjoyable driving experience. Owners praise its beautiful looks and say it is fun to drive with the top up or down, and they also appreciate the roomy back seat and the variety of options available. At the same time, the car is not without compromises: some drivers find the infotainment system complicated, trunk space is limited, and there is a lack of top-end power.

Beautiful styling, adequate technology, fun to drive with top up or down.

Steering is tight, the suspension is firm, the seats go farther back than most convertibles. The lack of trunk space, and the lack of top-end power, are minor issues for me. The infotainment center of the dash is overly complicated, too.. It was a priority for me to have a functional rear seat, accommodating two adults. The Cascada haa the roomiest back seat in its class.

How much does the 2016 Buick Cascada cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $13,291 |
| Year-Round Low | $12,362 |
| Year-Round High | $14,293 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $14,277 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −6.90% |
Prices have softened 6.90% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 137 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
Is the 2016 Buick Cascada a good car?
Yes — it earns a 5/5 from users and a 6.17/10 from experts. The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Cost effectiveness.
Owners consistently praise its beautiful styling, enjoyable driving experience, and roomy back seat. The overview also points to its relaxed open-air personality and broad appeal for shoppers who want a stylish convertible with a traditional feel.
With 29.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively if you want the right combination of price and equipment.
Is the 2016 Buick Cascada reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback points to a car that owners find enjoyable and easy to live with, and the broader ownership tone suggests a model that can be counted on for the kind of relaxed cruising it was built to deliver. The expert evaluation also describes it as a straightforward, classic cruiser rather than a complicated performance machine.
Buick’s standard equipment and comfort-focused setup should make day-to-day ownership feel familiar, but used buyers should still watch for wear tied to age, mileage, and the convertible top.
What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Buick Cascada?
At 63.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, panel alignment, and any signs of prior repair. Because this is a convertible, you should also pay close attention to top operation, seals, and water intrusion concerns. Condition matters here more than mileage alone, especially if you want the car to feel as refined as it should.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base Convertible trim already includes a power soft top, adaptive xenon headlights, remote engine start, heated leather power seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated mirrors, rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, a heated steering wheel, 20-inch alloys, foglights, voice controls, and smartphone integration for the 7-inch touchscreen. The Premium trim adds forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, auto wipers, and interior air deflectors.
- Powertrain: It uses a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with 200 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque, plus an overboost feature that briefly raises torque to 221 lb-ft. The car’s weight makes it feel underpowered, and the 6-speed automatic is part of the reason efficiency and response feel dated.
- Safety package: The standard safety setup includes antilock discs, traction and stability control, a full suite of airbags, front-seat side airbags, front knee airbags, and deployable safety hoops for rollover protection. The Premium trim adds forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning, but blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not included.
- Infotainment: You get a 7-inch touchscreen with smartphone integration, but the system is described as dated and complicated. Wireless phone integration and over-the-air capability are not mentioned.
- Fuel efficiency: It returns an EPA-estimated 20 mpg city/27 highway for a combined 23 mpg.
Which 2016 Buick Cascada trim should I buy?
The 2016 Buick Cascada is offered in 2 trim levels: Convertible and Premium.
Here's the short version:
- Convertible: This is the best-value choice because it already brings the core Cascada experience: power soft top, heated leather seats, dual-zone climate control, rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, heated steering wheel, and smartphone integration. If you want the Cascada’s style and comfort without paying extra for more driver-assistance tech, this is the trim to target.
- Premium: This trim is for you if you want the added safety and convenience features, including forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, auto wipers, and interior air deflectors. It costs more, so it makes the most sense if those extra features matter to you.
The Premium trim adds the main safety-package upgrades, while the base Convertible already covers most of the comfort and convenience essentials.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Buick Cascada?

- Inventory: There are 137 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.90% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 63.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $12,362, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2016 Buick Cascada's resale value?
The current average of $13,291 sits slightly below last year's $14,277.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make future resale a little more challenging if you buy at the wrong price. If you purchase near the lower end of the range and keep the car in strong condition, you give yourself a better chance of limiting depreciation.
The convertible niche and the model’s comfort-focused appeal can still help it stand out with the right buyer. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2016 Buick Cascada safe?
The 2016 Buick Cascada has not yet been tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, though Buick anticipates a five-star rating.
It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.
The standard safety equipment includes antilock discs, traction and stability control, a full suite of airbags, and deployable safety hoops for rollover protection. The Premium trim adds forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning, but blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not included.
A notable shortcoming is the lack of those driver-assistance features, along with an unimpressive braking distance that may matter if you want a more confidence-inspiring convertible.
Should I buy a 2016 Buick Cascada or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2016 if:
- 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 63.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.90% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It stands out as Buick’s first convertible in 25 years and delivers a classic cruising experience rather than a modern, high-tech one.
The bottom line: If you want this model’s relaxed open-air personality and you find a clean example at a good price, the 2016 is worth considering. If you’re more price-sensitive, the current market gives you enough inventory to shop patiently and wait for a better deal, especially on a well-kept base Convertible.
