CarGurus Analysis: 2016 Buick Cascada

Summary
With 128 currently listed for sale and an average price of $13,123.00, 25.8% of 2016 Buick Cascadas for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2016 Buick Cascada 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.17 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2016 Buick Cascada stands out as Buick’s first convertible in 25 years, and it leans hard into a classic open-air cruising feel. Buick tapped Opel for this bulky boulevard cruiser, which gives it a distinctive place in the brand’s lineup and helps explain its relaxed, old-school character.
That character is also what makes the Cascada appealing to buyers who want style and easygoing top-down driving more than cutting-edge innovation. The expert test drive data describes it as offering a classic cruising experience, but also says it has too little forward thinking to truly impress. Owner feedback reinforces the appeal of its beautiful styling and enjoyable driving experience, with many appreciating that it is fun to drive with the top up or down and noting a roomy back seat. At the same time, some drivers point to a complicated infotainment system, limited trunk space, and a lack of top-end power, which are worth keeping in mind.

Beautiful styling, adequate technology, fun to drive with top up or down.

Steering is tight, the suspension is firm, the seats go farther back than most convertibles. The lack of trunk space, and the lack of top-end power, are minor issues for me. The infotainment center of the dash is overly complicated, too.. It was a priority for me to have a functional rear seat, accommodating two adults. The Cascada haa the roomiest back seat in its class.

2016 Buick Cascada Price Trends
CarGurus tracks the prices of millions of used car listings every year. See how the average price of 2016 Buick Cascada prices has changed over time.
See more price trendsHow much does the 2016 Buick Cascada cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $12,969 |
| Year-Round Low | $12,360.96 |
| Year-Round High | $14,420.81 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $14,035 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −7.60% |
Prices have softened 7.60% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 131 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
If you find a listing below $12,360.96, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2016 Buick Cascada a good car?
Yes — the 2016 Buick Cascada earns a 5/5 user rating, and its expert rating is 6.17/10. The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Cost effectiveness.
Owners consistently praise its beautiful styling, enjoyable driving experience, and roomy back seat. The overview also points to its appeal as a classic open-air cruiser, especially if you value top-down driving and a relaxed character over cutting-edge innovation. With 22.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2016 Buick Cascada reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback highlights a car that many people find fun to drive and easy to live with, and it also points to a variety of options that help the car feel well equipped. The expert commentary reinforces that this is a classic cruising experience, which suggests the Cascada is built around comfort and straightforward use rather than complexity. Buick also includes a power soft top, heated seats, heated mirrors, and a heated steering wheel on the base trim, which can help daily usability.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the car’s age and feature set may leave you more exposed to wear, outdated tech, and expensive repairs if prior maintenance has been neglected.
What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Buick Cascada?
At 64.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been driven regularly with the top down or has higher mileage. Pay close attention to body condition, roof operation, interior wear, and any signs that the car’s older infotainment or climate systems have been neglected. Because this model leans heavily on comfort and cruising, you’ll want to make sure the car still feels tight, quiet, and complete.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base Convertible trim already includes a power soft top, adaptive xenon headlights, remote engine start, heated 8-way leather power seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated mirrors, rear parking sensors, a rear-view camera, a heated tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, 20-inch alloys, foglights, voice controls, and smartphone integration for the 7-inch touchscreen. The Premium trim adds forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, auto wipers, and interior air deflectors.
- Powertrain: The 1.6-liter turbocharged engine makes 200 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque, with an overboost feature that briefly raises torque to 221 lb-ft. Despite that, the car’s weight leaves it feeling underpowered, and the 0-60 run takes the better part of 9 seconds.
- Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes antilock discs, traction and stability control, a full suite of airbags with front-seat side and front knee airbags, and rollover-deploying safety hoops. The Premium trim adds forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning, but blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not included.
- Infotainment: The car uses a 7-inch touchscreen, but the system is described as old and confusing. Smartphone integration is included, but there’s no mention of wireless CarPlay or Android Auto, and the setup does not feel modern.
- Fuel efficiency: The Cascada is rated at 20 mpg city and 27 mpg highway, for a combined 23 mpg. The expert review also notes that real-world mileage can fall short of that figure.
Which 2016 Buick Cascada trim should I buy?
The 2016 Buick Cascada is offered in 2 trim levels: Convertible and Premium.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The Convertible trim is the one to focus on if you want the Cascada’s core appeal without paying extra for a modest feature jump. It already includes a power soft top, heated leather seats, a rear-view camera, rear parking sensors, and a 7-inch touchscreen, but it still lacks the added driver-assistance features found on the Premium trim.
- Premium/top trim: The Premium trim adds forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, auto wipers, and interior air deflectors. If you want the most complete version of this model year, this is the one to target.
The Premium trim is the safer bet if you want the added driver-assistance features, while the base Convertible makes more sense if you’re shopping for value and can live without them.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Buick Cascada?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.
- Deal availability: 22.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 131 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.60% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 64.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $12,360.96, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2016 Buick Cascada's resale value?
The current average of $12,969 sits slightly below last year's $14,035.
That price movement suggests the Cascada has already absorbed some of its recent depreciation, which can help limit further downside if you buy at the right price. For a future seller, that means your best protection is to buy carefully and avoid overpaying now. A well-kept example with strong equipment and clean history should be easier to move later than one with accident history or visible wear.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2016 Buick Cascada safe?
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has not yet tested the Cascada, but Buick “anticipates” a 5-star rating, for whatever that’s worth.
It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard safety equipment includes antilock discs, traction and stability control, a full suite of airbags with front-seat side and front knee airbags, and safety hoops that deploy if the vehicle senses an imminent rollover. The Premium trim adds forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning, but blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are missing. That lack of key driver-assistance features is a notable gap for a used buyer to keep in mind.
Should I buy a 2016 Buick Cascada or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2016 if:
- 22.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 64.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.60% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It’s a classic cruising convertible with a roomy back seat and strong styling appeal, but it also feels dated and underpowered.
The bottom line: If you want the Cascada’s relaxed, open-air personality and you find a clean example at a fair price, the 2016 can make sense. If you’re price-sensitive, keep shopping carefully and compare condition, history, and equipment closely, because the best value will usually come from the cleanest car rather than the cheapest one.
