How much does the 2016 BMW X3 cost?

Prices have softened 9.49% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 901 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2016 BMW X3 a good car?

Yes — the 2016 BMW X3 earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its smooth driving experience, powerful performance, and luxury features, and many like the way it blends mid-size SUV practicality with sports-car-like handling. The overview also supports that fit if you want a compact luxury SUV that feels more like a car on the road, with a premium interior and everyday usability. With 32.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2016 BMW X3 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that many people find dependable in daily use, with a smooth driving experience and the kind of premium feel buyers tend to count on. At the same time, the broader model-year notes mention higher ownership costs, so reliability should be weighed alongside maintenance expectations. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is not just whether the SUV runs well today, but whether prior upkeep has been consistent enough to avoid expensive surprises later.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 BMW X3?

At 62.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with accident records. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on maintenance condition, signs of leaks, and any electrical or transmission-related concerns. Because ownership costs can run higher on this model, you’ll want to pay close attention to service records and overall wear, not just mileage.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 BMW X3?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the best listings.

• Deal availability: 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 901 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.49% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,347, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 BMW X3's resale value?

The current average of $11,347 sits slightly below last year's $12,536.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make future resale gains harder unless the vehicle is especially well kept. If you buy at a competitive price and maintain the SUV carefully, you may be better positioned when it’s time to sell. Strong condition, clean history, and documented service matter more when the broader market is already softer.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 BMW X3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.49% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 is a smart choice if you want a well-liked, premium-feeling X3 at a softer used price and you’re willing to be selective about condition and history. If you’re especially price-sensitive, it also makes sense to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-maintained example rather than chasing the newest badge alone.
