How much does the 2016 BMW X3 cost?

Prices have softened 8.06% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 894 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2016 BMW X3 a good car?

Yes — owners rate it 4.5/5, which points to strong overall satisfaction. The owner feedback highlights smooth driving, powerful performance, and luxury features, and it also calls out the sporty handling that makes this SUV feel more engaging than many rivals. For you, that means the 2016 X3 fits especially well if you want a premium compact SUV with carlike road manners and everyday practicality. With 34.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful shopping opportunity in the market.

Is the 2016 BMW X3 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable-feeling driving experience, with praise for smooth performance and the kind of premium ownership experience many buyers want to count on. At the same time, the model’s higher maintenance and insurance costs are worth keeping in mind, especially if you plan to own it for the long term. For used buyers, that means reliability can be appealing, but your ownership risk is best managed by choosing a well-documented example and budgeting for premium upkeep.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 BMW X3?

At 60.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and service history before you commit. A pre-purchase inspection should get extra attention on the transmission, oil leaks, and electrical systems, since those are the kinds of issues that can matter most on a used luxury SUV. It also makes sense to focus on overall condition and maintenance documentation, because higher ownership costs can become more manageable when the vehicle has been cared for consistently.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 BMW X3?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 894 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.06% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,498, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 BMW X3's resale value?

The current average of $11,524 sits slightly below last year's $12,534.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that resale value will likely depend heavily on condition, mileage, and maintenance history, since buyers in this segment tend to reward well-kept examples. Strong demand for a premium SUV with sporty handling can help support value, but the recent decline means you should expect pricing to remain sensitive to vehicle quality.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 BMW X3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.06% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, sporty driving feel, and premium practicality, the 2016 is a sensible place to focus your search. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, you may also want to compare nearby years and target the best-maintained example rather than the newest one you can afford.
