For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is manageable if you verify condition carefully before you commit.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 BMW 4 Series?

At 52.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection should be a priority, especially if the car has higher mileage or incomplete service records. Focus closely on body condition, mechanical health, and signs of deferred maintenance so you can separate a clean example from one that may become expensive later.

What is the 2016 BMW 4 Series's resale value?

The current average of $14,355 sits slightly below last year's $15,300.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. If you choose a well-kept example, you may have less downside than you would with a newer, more expensive luxury car. Strong condition and clean history matter a lot here because they help preserve buyer interest when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 BMW 4 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 52.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.18% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $13,576, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $14,355 average.
• It emphasizes distinctive styling and strong driving appeal.

The bottom line: Choose the 2016 if you want the stronger current market balance of price, satisfaction, and availability. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2015 is the better value-oriented path, especially if you find one with a clean history and solid condition.
