How much does the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta cost?

Prices have softened 2.34% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

Is the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta a good car?

Yes — the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 6.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its strong diesel engine, fuel efficiency, smooth handling, and reliable performance. That lines up with the Jetta’s role as a versatile daily driver for commuting, school runs, and family road trips. Even with its conservative styling, it offers a broader appeal than its appearance suggests. There are 25.9% good or great deals in the market, so you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a reliable, dependable car that many owners feel good about living with over time. The expert evaluation also emphasizes smooth, quiet operation and a composed, controlled ride, which supports the sense that this is a car you can count on for everyday use. Volkswagen’s Carefree Maintenance covers scheduled maintenance service at no charge for 12 months/10,000 miles. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that reliability can vary with maintenance history, so condition and service records matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Volkswagen Jetta?

At 54.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection is worth prioritizing, especially if you’re comparing cars with similar prices but different condition histories. Focus on maintenance records, signs of uneven wear, and whether the car’s equipment and safety features are functioning as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base S is the simplest version, while higher trims add features like heated front seats, a sunroof, navigation, keyless access, and a Fender audio system. If you want the best value, the SE with Connectivity stands out for adding a stronger feature set without jumping all the way to the top trim.
• Powertrain: The Jetta lineup includes a 2.0-liter gas engine, a 1.8-liter turbocharged engine, a diesel option, and a sportier GLI. The 1.8-liter turbo is described as responsive and smooth, while the diesel is the efficiency play.
• Safety package: Available driver-assistance features include blind-spot monitoring, rear traffic alert, forward-collision warning, park-distance control, and a rear-view camera. Some of these features are available rather than standard, so trim choice matters.
• Infotainment: Higher trims can bring a Premium VIII touchscreen, Bluetooth, an SD card slot, SiriusXM, and Volkswagen Car-Net connected services. The system also supports convenience features like remote vehicle access and diagnostic reminders.
• Fuel efficiency: The 1.8-liter turbo is rated at 25 mpg city/37 highway/30 combined, and the diesel is rated at 31/46 with a manual or 31/45 with an automatic.

Which 2015 Volkswagen Jetta trim should I buy?

The 2015 Volkswagen Jetta is offered in 13 trim levels: S, SE, SE with Connectivity, SE with Connectivity and Navigation, 1.8T Sport, SEL, TDI, GLI, and Hybrid.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the simplest choice if you want the lowest-cost entry point and don’t need many extras. It covers the basics well, but it’s the trim where you’ll feel the biggest feature gap versus the better-equipped versions.
• SE: This is the best-value pick for many shoppers because it adds the turbocharged engine and a more appealing everyday feature set without pushing into luxury pricing.
• SE with Connectivity: This is the sweet spot if you want the strongest mix of comfort and tech, including leatherette seats, a sunroof, rear-view camera, and Car-Net.
• SE with Connectivity and Navigation: Choose this if you want the same well-rounded setup as the Connectivity trim plus navigation, keyless access, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
• 1.8T Sport: This is the right pick if you want a more engaging drive, with sport suspension and a sportier appearance.
• SEL: This is the most upscale gas trim, adding features like two-tone sport seats, a power driver’s seat, Fender audio, and dual-zone climate control.
• TDI: This is the efficiency-focused choice if diesel fuel economy is your priority.
• GLI: This is the performance-oriented trim, with the sportiest engine and extra visual and chassis upgrades.
• Hybrid: This is the fully loaded efficiency option, but it sits in its own lane and is best for buyers who specifically want the hybrid setup.

The safety package is strongest on trims that include the available driver-assistance features, so check carefully for blind-spot monitoring, rear traffic alert, forward-collision warning, and rear-view camera equipment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Volkswagen Jetta?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 25.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 888 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.34% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 54.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $7,985, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta's resale value?

The current average of $7,985 sits slightly below last year's $8,177.

That kind of price movement suggests the Jetta has softened a bit in the used market, which can be good for you as a buyer but less favorable if you’re planning to sell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you may be able to limit some of that depreciation impact. Demand should remain supported by the model’s broad usefulness and strong owner satisfaction.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta safe?

The 2015 Volkswagen Jetta earns an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Top Safety Pick+ rating and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with five-star side ratings and four-star frontal crash and rollover ratings.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Jetta’s safety story is strengthened by available blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, forward-collision warning, and a rear-view camera. Standard equipment also includes electronic stability control, six airbags, antilock brakes, electronic brake-pressure distribution, and hydraulic brake assist. The main caveat is that some of the helpful driver-assistance features are available rather than standard, so you should verify the exact equipment on any used listing.

Should I buy a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 25.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 54.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.34% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds stronger safety ratings and more available driver-assistance tech.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $7,260, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $7,985 average.
• It offers a more playful driving character and a spacious trunk.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $8,991, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $7,985 average.
• It brings a newer turbo engine and a more modern touchscreen interface.

The bottom line: The 2015 is the better all-around pick if you want a balanced mix of price, safety, and everyday usefulness. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2014 is the cheaper route; if you want newer tech and can spend more, the 2016 is the upgrade path.

How does the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta compare to the 2015 Honda Civic?

Our experts score the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta 6.7/10 and the 2015 Honda Civic 8.7/10. The Civic is the stronger overall choice, with a higher expert score, more power, better fuel economy, and a higher average used price that reflects stronger market demand. The Jetta is the more affordable option and still offers a respectable deal share, but it trails the Civic in performance and efficiency.
