How much does the 2015 Toyota Prius cost?

Prices are up 5.64% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 721 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2015 Toyota Prius a good car?

Yes — it earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its excellent fuel economy, spacious interior, comfort, smooth ride, and Toyota's reliability. For everyday transportation and commuting, the Prius is framed as a practical choice that helps you spend less on gas while still giving you a roomy, comfortable cabin. Even with its age and less exciting driving character, it remains a strong fit if you want efficient, low-stress daily use. 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2015 Toyota Prius reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to Toyota's reliability, and the expert commentary reinforces that with strong reliability and dependability language. The cost-effectiveness section also notes free scheduled maintenance for the first 2 years or 25,000 miles of ownership, which helps reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a well-used hybrid can still carry age-related wear, so condition and maintenance history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Toyota Prius?

At 50.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you're considering a higher-mileage example. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the cabin and controls show the kind of wear you'd expect from a commuter car. Because this model is valued for efficiency and comfort, you should also make sure the car still feels smooth, quiet, and well cared for on a test drive.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Prius is sold in trim levels called Two, Three, Four, and Five. Lower trims are more basic, while higher trims add navigation, Entune App Suite technology, expanded Smart Key functionality, and available premium audio and heads-up display features. The Five stands out with exclusive LED headlights and the available Advanced Technology Package.
• Powertrain: The Prius uses a 1.8-liter, 4-cylinder engine with an electric drive motor for a total output of 134 hp. It can run on electricity alone at low speeds for short distances, and Toyota pairs it with a continuously variable automatic transmission and Normal, Eco, Power, and EV driving modes.
• Safety package: The available Advanced Technology Package adds lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and pre-collision warning and braking. Safety Connect is restricted to the Four and Five trims, and blind-spot warning is not offered.
• Infotainment: Higher trims add a navigation system, Entune App Suite technology, and expanded Smart Key functionality. The Prius Five can also be equipped with a heads-up display, a premium audio system, an upgraded navigation system, and advanced voice-recognition technology.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review cites 51 mpg city/48 highway/50 combined, and the test vehicle returned 41.3 mpg during a week of driving.

Which 2015 Toyota Prius trim should I buy?

The 2015 Toyota Prius is offered in 4 trim levels: Two, Three, Four, and Five.

Here's the short version:

• Two: This is the entry point if you want the Prius experience at the lowest cost, but it leaves out the extra convenience and tech upgrades found higher up the range.
• Three: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds navigation, Entune App Suite technology, and expanded Smart Key functionality without jumping all the way to the pricier upper trims.
• Four: This trim is a smart step up if you want more comfort and tech, including available Deluxe Solar Roof Package features, a heads-up display, premium audio, upgraded navigation, and Toyota Safety Connect.
• Five: This is the most feature-rich choice, with exclusive LED headlights and the available Advanced Technology Package, making it the pick if you want the most equipment and the strongest tech story.

Safety Connect is limited to the Four and Five trims, and the Advanced Technology Package adds lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and pre-collision warning and braking.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Toyota Prius?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer's market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on a strong listing.

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 721 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 5.64% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 50.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,381, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Toyota Prius's resale value?

The current average of $12,536 sits slightly above last year's $11,868.

That upward move suggests the market has been willing to pay a bit more for this model year, which can help support resale value if you buy well and keep the car in good condition. The Prius's efficiency-focused reputation also helps it stay relevant with shoppers who want low running costs. If you maintain it carefully and keep records, you should be in a better position when it's time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Toyota Prius safe?

The 2015 Prius earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick commendation from IIHS.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota's Safety Connect system includes automatic collision notification and emergency assistance, but it is limited to the Four and Five trims. The available Advanced Technology Package adds lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and pre-collision warning and braking. A blind-spot warning system is not offered, which is a notable gap for used shoppers who want the most comprehensive driver assistance.

Should I buy a 2015 Toyota Prius or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 50.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 5.64% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It remains a practical, efficient commuter with strong fuel economy, a spacious interior, comfort, and Toyota reliability.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $15,140, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $12,536 average.
• It enters a new generation with many familiar hallmarks and a few new tricks.

The bottom line: If you want the lower purchase price and proven everyday usefulness, the 2015 is the better value play. If you're willing to spend more for the next-generation update, the 2016 is the better path; price-sensitive buyers should stay focused on the 2015 and shop for a clean, well-priced example.
