How much does the 2015 RAM 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 7.04% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,603 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of trucks to compare.

Is the 2015 RAM 1500 a good car?

With a user rating of 3.85/5 and an expert rating of 7.67/10, the 2015 RAM 1500 lands in appealing territory if you want a full-size truck that leans toward comfort and refinement.

Owners most often praise its powerful performance, luxury features, and comfort, and they also like its efficient towing and enjoyable driving experience. The overview backs that up with a broad cabin range, handsome styling, and a strong powertrain lineup that includes a smooth diesel option.

If you want a truck that can work hard but still feel upscale, this Ram fits that use case well. The market also shows 31.8% good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2015 RAM 1500 reliable?

The 2015 RAM 1500 is presented as a truck that has aged well, with a powertrain lineup that remains a strong point for buyers who want long-term usability.

Owners describe it as powerful and enjoyable to drive, and they also point to efficient towing and comfort as reasons they like living with it. At the same time, some owners mention engine issues, rust, and occasional feature malfunctions, so you should pay close attention to maintenance history and visible wear.

The diesel and V6 powertrains are described as smooth and capable, which supports the case for dependable day-to-day use if the truck has been cared for properly. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is buying a truck with hidden mechanical or corrosion problems that show up after purchase.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 RAM 1500?

At 65.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on body condition, rust, and signs of uneven wear or deferred maintenance. Because this truck can be configured many ways, make sure the equipment on the listing matches what you expect before you commit.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin range stretches from work truck to luxe cruiser, so you should compare the basic trims against the more upscale versions to make sure you are getting the comfort and equipment you want.
• Powertrain: The lineup includes a capable V6, a larger Hemi V8, and a smooth EcoDiesel, with the diesel offering strong torque and better fuel economy but a higher upfront cost.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes airbags, pretensioning seatbelts, antilock brakes, brake assist, and electronic stability control with trailer sway control; blind-spot monitoring and parking sensors are optional on most models.
• Infotainment: An optional 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen is available in most trims, and it becomes standard above the Outdoorsman; less expensive trims can have more basic systems.
• Fuel efficiency: The V6 is rated at 17 mpg city and 25 highway in rear-wheel drive, while the EcoDiesel reaches 20/28 mpg in rear-wheel drive and 19/27 in 4-wheel drive.

Which 2015 RAM 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2015 RAM 1500 is offered in 10 trim levels: Tradesman, Express, HFE, SLT, Big Horn/Lone Star, Outdoorsman, Sport, R/T, Laramie, Laramie Longhorn, and Laramie Limited.

Here's the short version:

• Tradesman: This is the work-site fleet choice, so it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost path into the Ram 1500 lineup and do not need upscale features.
• Express: Step up here if you want a simple truck with a little more presence than the most basic trim, without moving into the pricier comfort-focused models.
• HFE: This trim is the efficiency play, and it stands out because it offers the diesel engine and its highway mileage advantage.
• SLT: This is a popular pick for buyers, and it gives you a balanced middle ground if you want a practical truck without jumping straight to the more expensive trims.
• Big Horn/Lone Star: This is the consumer volume model and the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds a few more content upgrades over the SLT without going all the way to luxury pricing.
• Outdoorsman: Choose this if you want a more niche truck personality and are comfortable with the fact that the 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen is not standard here.
• Sport: This trim is aimed at buyers who want a more distinctive look and feel, and it also serves as the home for the R/T option.
• R/T: This is the performance-flavored choice in the lineup, with 22-inch wheels and a sportier setup than the mainstream trims.
• Laramie: Pick this if you want a luxury-leaning Ram with more upscale appeal and standard parking sensors.
• Laramie Longhorn: This is for buyers who want a more premium, dressed-up full-size truck with weekend-friendly luxury appeal.
• Laramie Limited: This is the top-end luxury choice, and it is the trim to target if you want the most upscale Ram 1500 experience.

The safety package is strongest on higher trims, where parking sensors are standard on Laramie Editions and blind-spot monitoring remains available.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 RAM 1500?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you have room to shop, compare, and negotiate.

• Deal availability: 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,603 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.04% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,895, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 RAM 1500's resale value?

The current average of $15,895 sits slightly below last year's $17,098.

That decline suggests the truck has become more affordable for buyers, but it also means sellers may need to price competitively to move a used example. If you own one, condition and equipment will matter more than ever in protecting value.

For a future seller, the strongest listings will be the ones with clean history, desirable equipment, and clear maintenance records. Trucks with the diesel or higher-end trims may still attract attention, but only if they are presented well and priced realistically.

Is the 2015 RAM 1500 safe?

The 2015 RAM 1500 earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal crash and five-star ratings in side impacts.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ram’s safety setup includes a standard suite of passive features such as airbags, pretensioning seatbelts, antilock brakes, and brake assist. Trailer sway control is built into the standard electronic stability control, and blind-spot monitoring plus a backup camera are available to help with a truck this large.

One caveat is that parking sensors are optional on most models and standard only on Laramie Editions, so lower trims leave more of the parking burden on you.

Should I buy a 2015 RAM 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.04% compared with last year.
• The 2015 stands out for its interior comfort, handsome looks, and broad powertrain lineup.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $17,474, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $15,895 average.
• It adds a more luxurious Limited trim and an even stronger upscale focus.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2015 is the smarter starting point because it combines a lower average price with strong comfort and capability. If you are willing to spend more for a more luxurious truck, the 2016 is the better path.
