What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Nissan Altima?

At 45.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can check for signs of uneven wear, poor repairs, or neglected maintenance. Focus especially on overall condition, because the market includes a meaningful number of cars with accident history.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 2.5 SV adds 17-inch aluminum wheels, fog lights, NissanConnect with Mobile Apps, a hands-free text-messaging assistant, a USB port, satellite radio, a reversing camera, dual-zone automatic climate control, an 8-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar support, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and remote engine start. It is the best-value choice if you want a strong equipment upgrade without moving too far upmarket.
• Powertrain: The 2.5-liter 4-cylinder makes 182 horsepower and pairs with a refined CVT. It is described as lively, spirited, and quiet, with strong real-world efficiency.
• Safety package: The available driver-assistance suite includes blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, and Moving Object Detection. These features are standard on the 3.5 SV and 3.5 SL, while the 2.5 SV and 2.5 SL can be optioned with them.
• Infotainment: The available NissanConnect setup uses a 7-inch screen in the Technology Package, with voice recognition, SiriusXM traffic, Travel Link, smartphone syncing, text-messaging support, and an intuitive interface.
• Fuel efficiency: The Altima is rated at 27 mpg city and 38 mpg highway, and the test vehicle averaged 27.8 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2015 Nissan Altima trim should I buy?

The 2015 Nissan Altima is offered in 4 trim levels: 2.5 S, 2.5 SV, 2.5 SL, and 3.5 SV.

Here's the short version:

• 2.5 S: This is the stripped-down base model, so it makes sense only if you want the lowest entry point and are willing to give up equipment.
• 2.5 SV: This is the best-value trim. It adds the most useful everyday upgrades, including the reversing camera, dual-zone climate control, power driver’s seat, remote start, and NissanConnect features.
• 2.5 SL: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel and are willing to pay for additional equipment beyond the SV.
• 3.5 SV: This trim is for you if you want the V6 model and the standard driver-assistance features that come with it.

The safety package is worth prioritizing if you want blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, and Moving Object Detection, since those features are not standard on every trim.

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 27.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,588 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.66% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 45.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $8,095, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Nissan Altima's resale value?

The current average of $8,095 sits slightly below last year's $8,766.

That decline suggests the market has become more favorable for buyers, but it also means a future seller may face some pressure if pricing softens further. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you can help protect value better than the broader market trend suggests. A clean history and strong maintenance record should matter more to future shoppers than a car with prior damage or uneven wear.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2015 Nissan Altima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 27.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 45.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.66% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2015 stands out for responsive handling, strong fuel economy, and a well-rounded family-sedan character.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $7,625, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $8,095 average.
• It emphasizes safety, fuel efficiency, comfort, and affordability.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $9,266, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $8,095 average.
• It brings a deep refresh with crisp styling, excellent economy, and more tech.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, features, and overall satisfaction, the 2015 is the strongest middle ground. If your budget is tighter, the 2014 is the value play; if you want a fresher-feeling Altima with more styling and tech, the 2016 is worth the extra money.
