What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Nissan Altima?

At 44.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has any accident record or incomplete service history. Focus on bodywork quality, panel alignment, tire wear, and signs that safety or driver-assistance equipment may have been repaired after a collision. A clean-looking listing is not enough on its own; you want documentation that supports the condition you see.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 2.5 SV adds 17-inch aluminum wheels, fog lights, NissanConnect with Mobile Apps, a hands-free text-messaging assistant, a USB port, satellite radio, a reversing camera, dual-zone automatic climate control, an 8-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar support, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and remote engine start. It is the best-value choice if you want a well-equipped cabin without stepping too far up the price ladder.
• Powertrain: The 2.5-liter 4-cylinder makes 182 horsepower and uses a refined CVT. It is described as lively, spirited, and efficient, with EPA estimates of 27 mpg city and 38 highway.
• Safety package: The available driver-assistance suite includes blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, and Moving Object Detection. These features are optional on the 2.5 SV and 2.5 SL, but standard on the 3.5 SV and 3.5 SL.
• Infotainment: The optional Technology Package upgrades the NissanConnect screen to 7 inches and adds voice recognition, SiriusXM traffic, and Travel Link. The standard setup uses a 5-inch screen, and the larger display is easier to use.
• Fuel efficiency: The Altima is rated at 27 mpg city and 38 highway, and one test returned 27.8 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2015 Nissan Altima trim should I buy?

The 2015 Nissan Altima is offered in 4 trim levels: 2.5 S, 2.5 SV, 2.5 SL, 3.5 SV.

Here's the short version:

• 2.5 S: This is the stripped-down base model, so it makes sense only if you want the lowest entry price and can live without the nicer equipment found higher up.
• 2.5 SV: This is the best-value trim because it adds the most useful everyday upgrades, including the reversing camera, dual-zone climate control, power driver’s seat, and NissanConnect features.
• 2.5 SL: Choose this if you want a more upscale version of the 2.5 with additional equipment, but the available safety tech still depends on options.
• 3.5 SV: This is the stronger-engine choice, and the safety suite is standard here, so it suits you if you want more power and the full driver-assistance package.

The safety package is standard on the 3.5 SV and 3.5 SL, while it remains optional on the 2.5 SV and 2.5 SL.

What is the 2015 Nissan Altima's resale value?

The current average of $8,046 sits slightly below last year's $8,704.

That softer pricing suggests the Altima has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive resale environment. If you buy at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you can help protect your exit value later. The model’s broad appeal and solid owner satisfaction should still support demand, even if appreciation is not the goal.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2015 Nissan Altima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 44.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.56% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It blends responsive handling, fuel economy, technology, and comfort into a well-rounded package.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $7,451, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $8,046 average.
• It is a practical, safe, fuel-efficient, and comfortable daily driver.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $9,225, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $8,046 average.
• It brings a deep refresh with crisp styling and more tech.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, features, and everyday livability, the 2015 is the smart middle ground. If your budget is tighter, the 2014 can save you money; if you want fresher styling and more modern appeal, the 2016 is the upgrade path.
