There are 1,601 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare on price and condition.

Is the 2015 Nissan Altima a good car?

Yes — the 2015 Nissan Altima earns a 4.67/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Technology, and Safety.

Is the 2015 Nissan Altima reliable?

Owner feedback points to reliability, smooth performance, and trouble-free day-to-day use, while also emphasizing fuel economy and a comfortable interior. The expert notes also describe the Altima as dependable in the broader sense of being a practical, well-rounded sedan, though the cost-effectiveness discussion suggests its long-term ownership profile is more average than exceptional. Nissan’s maintenance-friendly touches help, including the Easy Fill Tire Alert system that simplifies tire-pressure checks.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that average dependability can translate into more variable ownership costs than you might expect from the segment’s strongest performers.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Nissan Altima?

At 46.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has any accident record. Focus on bodywork quality, panel alignment, tire wear, and signs that safety systems or electronics were repaired correctly. Because this model year offers a mix of equipment levels, it also pays to confirm that the features you want are actually present on the specific car you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 2.5 S, SV, and SL are less equipped than the 3.5 S, SV, and SL, and the stripped-down 2.5 base model is especially sparse. The SV adds 17-inch aluminum wheels, fog lights, NissanConnect with Mobile Apps, a hands-free text-messaging assistant, a USB port, satellite radio, a reversing camera, dual-zone automatic climate control, an 8-way power driver’s seat with power lumbar support, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and remote engine start.
• Powertrain: The 2.5 uses a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine rated at 182 horsepower with a CVT. It is described as lively and spirited, with EPA estimates of 27 mpg city/38 highway.
• Safety package: The available driver-assistance suite includes blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, and Moving Object Detection. These systems are standard on the 3.5 SV and 3.5 SL, while the 2.5 SV and 2.5 SL can be optioned with them.
• Infotainment: The standard setup includes NissanConnect, and the Technology Package upgrades the screen from 5 inches to 7 inches. It also adds voice recognition, SiriusXM traffic, Travel Link, and smartphone syncing.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.5-liter model is rated at 27 mpg city and 38 mpg highway, and one test returned 27.8 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2015 Nissan Altima trim should I buy?

The 2015 Nissan Altima is offered in 6 trim levels: 2.5 base, 2.5 S, 2.5 SV, 2.5 SL, 3.5 S, and 3.5 SV.

Here's the short version:

• 2.5 base: This is the stripped-down entry point, so it makes sense only if you want the lowest possible price and can live without the nicer equipment found on higher trims.
• 2.5 S: This is the simplest mainstream choice if you want the 2.5-liter engine and a lower-cost path into the lineup without stepping up to the better-equipped SV.
• 2.5 SV: This is the best-value trim. It adds the most useful everyday upgrades, including the reversing camera, dual-zone climate control, power driver’s seat, remote start, and NissanConnect features.
• 2.5 SL: Choose this if you want a more upscale feel and are willing to pay more for additional comfort and convenience equipment.
• 3.5 S: Pick this if you want the V6 powertrain and are willing to trade some equipment value for stronger performance.
• 3.5 SV: This is the most fully equipped V6 choice and suits you if you want the strongest mix of power and features.

The safety package with blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, and Moving Object Detection is standard on the 3.5 SV and 3.5 SL, while the 2.5 SV and 2.5 SL can be optioned with it.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Nissan Altima?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay disciplined.

• Deal availability: 26.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,601 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.35% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 46.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $8,127, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Nissan Altima's resale value?

The current average of $8,127 sits slightly below last year's $8,772.

That decline suggests the market has softened, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you’re thinking about future value, the current pricing trend points to a sedan that is holding steady rather than appreciating. That makes condition, mileage, and equipment especially important if you want to protect your exit price later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Nissan Altima safe?

The 2015 Nissan Altima earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard Easy Fill Tire Alert system helps you maintain proper tire pressure, and most models also include smart automatic headlights linked to the windshield wipers and a reversing camera. Blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, and Moving Object Detection are available on the 2.5 SV and 2.5 SL, and standard on the 3.5 SV and 3.5 SL. That means you should verify whether a specific used car has the driver-assistance package you want, especially if you’re shopping a 2.5 SV or 2.5 SL.

Should I buy a 2015 Nissan Altima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 26.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 46.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.35% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It balances responsive handling, fuel economy, technology, and comfort while remaining a very good all-around family sedan.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $7,589, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $8,127 average.
• It prioritizes practicality, comfort, fuel efficiency, and affordability over driving excitement.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $9,205, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $8,127 average.
• It brings a deep refresh with crisp styling, excellent economy, and more tech.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, features, and overall competence, the 2015 is the right target. If your budget is tighter, the 2014 can save you money while keeping the core Altima strengths. If you want a fresher look and more modern presentation, it can be worth stretching to the 2016.
