Summary
With 254 currently listed for sale and an average price of $9,437, 32.3% of 2015 Mazda CX-9s for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2015 Mazda CX-9 5 / 5 stars.

Why it stands out
The 2015 Mazda CX-9 stands out as a three-row crossover that blends family usefulness with Mazda’s usual emphasis on style and driving feel. Owners praise its spacious cabin and the amount of equipment it offers for the price, while also appreciating that it looks sporty and luxurious rather than purely utilitarian. The third row adds to its appeal for buyers who need extra seating without giving up a more upscale presence.
At the same time, the 2015 CX-9 is not without compromises. Some owners mention that the ride can feel a bit stiff, which fits with its sportier character. There is also a desire among some buyers for upgraded features such as a Bose sound system and built-in navigation, suggesting that while the CX-9 is well equipped overall, a few convenience and audio features may still be missed by shoppers looking for a more premium experience.

The car overall is great, plenty of space and fairly comfortable seating for 7 passengers. The only things I wish it had is the Bose sound system and navigation.

Third row sitting for the extended family, Bluetooth, navigation system, handsfree calling, heated seats, sunroof, backup camera, comfort and appealing. I liked it so much I bought it.

There are so many features. Im in awe over the CX-9. I was looking for a third row seat but got so many perks. I love having heated seats first thing in the morning. There is so much room. It was so easy to hook my phone up through Bluetooth. Definitely worth the money.

The amount of amenities you get with this car for the money is incredible. You get the third row without it looking like a bus. It’s still sporty and luxurious looking. For the price of this car, you get so much bang for your buck. I went from a 2 door convertible to the Mazda CX-9 and I’m in love with this car. I just wish I made the switch sooner. I wanted a larger car for my 100lb Golden Retriever without it looking like a Mom-mobile.

How much does the 2015 Mazda CX-9 cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $9,489 |
| Year-Round Low | $9,142 |
| Year-Round High | $10,807 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $10,808 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −12.21% |
Prices have softened 12.21% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 250 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2015 Mazda CX-9 a good car?
Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the spacious cabin, the amount of equipment you get for the price, and the sporty, upscale look that makes it feel more premium than a typical family hauler. If you want a three-row crossover with extra seating and a more stylish presence, this model year fits that use case well. With 32.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you also have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2015 Mazda CX-9 reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also emphasizes dependable day-to-day usefulness, with repeated praise for the roomy cabin and the sense that it delivers a lot for the money. That kind of consistent satisfaction matters when you’re evaluating a used SUV for long-term ownership.
For used buyers, the main risk is less about the model’s appeal and more about choosing a well-kept example with a clean history and solid maintenance.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Mazda CX-9?
At 64% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with visible cosmetic wear. Focus on overall condition, since a clean-looking listing can still hide past repairs or deferred maintenance.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Mazda CX-9?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to compare listings carefully before moving quickly.

- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.21% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 64.0% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $9,142, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Mazda CX-9's resale value?
The current average of $9,489 sits slightly below last year's $10,808.
That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, it also means resale performance will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle is documented. If you keep the SUV clean, maintained, and accident-free, you’ll be in a better position to protect value when it’s time to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2015 Mazda CX-9 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 64% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.21% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2016 if:
- At $13,396, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $9,489 average.
- It brings a quieter, more upscale cabin with a stronger near-luxury feel.
The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2015 is the primary path because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and meaningful deal availability. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer-feeling cabin and a more upscale presentation, the 2016 is the secondary path for buyers who prioritize refinement over price.
