How much does the 2015 Mazda CX-5 cost?

Prices are up 4.69% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,434 listings available, which suggests you still have a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2015 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — the 2015 Mazda CX-5 earns a 4.75/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its good looks, comfort, strong performance, fuel economy, and handling. That lines up with the overview: you get a compact crossover that feels more engaging to drive than many rivals, even if it gives up some practicality. For you, that means the CX-5 makes the most sense if you want a small SUV that feels lively and rewarding rather than purely utilitarian.

Only 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market still rewards shoppers who move carefully and compare listings.

Is the 2015 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to reliability-minded ownership themes such as dependable performance, long-term satisfaction, and a car you can count on. The expert commentary also reinforces that sense of durability by describing the quality as there and the reliability as there. On the ownership-cost side, the model is presented as having low cost of ownership, and Mazda includes 3 years of free roadside assistance, which adds a useful ownership perk.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about finding a well-kept example that hasn’t been worn down by age, mileage, or neglected maintenance.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Mazda CX-5?

At 56.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on condition details that matter in daily use: interior wear, infotainment usability, and whether the car’s equipment matches the trim you expect. Because some listings have prior incidents, it’s worth being extra careful about bodywork quality, panel alignment, and signs of incomplete repairs.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sport starts with the basics and can feel sparse because Bluetooth is not standard, while Touring adds a peppier engine, a standard automatic, keyless entry, push-button ignition, a blind-spot warning system, and a 5.8-inch touchscreen with a reversing camera. Grand Touring adds leather upholstery, heated front seats and side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power sunroof, and a premium audio system.
• Powertrain: Touring and Grand Touring models use a 184-hp, 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with a 6-speed automatic, and all-wheel drive is optional if you need it for tougher weather.
• Safety package: The available Technology Package adds Mazda’s Smart City Brake Support system and adaptive bi-Xenon headlights, while Touring already includes blind-spot monitoring and E911 emergency services connectivity. Rear cross-traffic alert is not offered.
• Infotainment: The system centers on a 5.8-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth calling and music streaming, HD Radio, satellite radio, text-messaging support, Pandora Internet radio, E911 connectivity, USB input, and a reversing camera. Smartphone app integration is not offered.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA says the front-wheel-drive Grand Touring should return 27 mpg in combined driving, though the test result cited was 24 mpg.

Which 2015 Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2015 Mazda CX-5 is offered in 3 trim levels: Sport, Touring and Grand Touring.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, and it gives you the CX-5’s core driving character at the lowest price, but you’ll want to budget for the Bluetooth package if you care about modern connectivity. It makes sense if you want the Mazda feel first and can live with a simpler feature set.
• Touring: This is the best-value trim because it adds the stronger engine, standard automatic transmission, keyless entry, push-button ignition, blind-spot warning, and the upgraded touchscreen/rear-camera setup. If you want the sweet spot between price and equipment, this is the one to target.
• Grand Touring: This trim is for you if you want the most comfort and convenience, with leather, heated front seats and mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, dual-zone climate control, a sunroof, and a premium audio system. It’s the right pick if you care more about upscale features than keeping the purchase price down.

The Technology Package is worth considering on Touring and Grand Touring if you want Smart City Brake Support and adaptive bi-Xenon headlights.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Mazda CX-5?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you should shop with a clear target and be ready to act when a strong listing appears.

• Deal availability: 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,434 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 4.69% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 56.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,231, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $12,370 sits slightly above last year's $11,816.

That price movement suggests the CX-5 has held demand reasonably well, which is a positive sign if you plan to sell later. A model year that is still trading above its prior-year average usually has enough shopper interest to support resale strength, especially when inventory is active but not overwhelming. For you, that means a clean, well-kept example should remain easier to move than a less desirable used crossover.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Mazda CX-5 safe?

The 2015 Mazda CX-5 earns a Top Safety Pick designation from IIHS and a five-star overall crash-test rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Touring model includes E911 emergency services connectivity and blind-spot monitoring, while the Grand Touring adds rain-sensing windshield wipers. The available Technology Package adds Smart City Brake Support and adaptive bi-Xenon headlights. One limitation to keep in mind is that Mazda does not offer rear cross-traffic alert for this CX-5.

Should I buy a 2015 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 33.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 4.69% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The expert takeaway for this year is that the CX-5 is genuinely enjoyable to drive, but it needs improvements in functionality to better compete with some rivals.

The bottom line: If you want a used compact crossover that feels more engaging than most, the 2015 CX-5 is a strong choice, especially if you prioritize driving enjoyment, safety, and owner satisfaction. If your main goal is maximum practicality or you’re especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare it carefully against nearby model years and focus on the cleanest, best-equipped listing you can find.
