CarGurus Analysis: 2015 Kia Soul
overall

Summary
With 1,235 currently listed for sale and an average price of $8,203.00, 29.6% of 2015 Kia Souls for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2015 Kia Soul 4.36 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8 / 10.
55.3% of 2015 Soul models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2015 Kia Soul stands out by turning a boxy, unconventional shape into something genuinely appealing rather than merely practical. It offers the kind of everyday usefulness most people need, along with a few surprise-and-delight touches that make it feel more special than its size and price might suggest. That combination of personality and value is a big part of its appeal, especially for buyers who want a small car that does not blend into the crowd.
At the same time, the 2015 Kia Soul is not presented as perfect. More power would be welcome, and additional trunk space would help, along with a couple of extra safety features. Even so, those shortcomings are framed as relatively minor against a car that is described as terrific, well equipped, and strong on technology, safety ratings, and quality. Owners also tend to praise its spacious interior, comfort, value for money, good fuel economy, and fun driving experience, which reinforces the Soul’s reputation as a practical choice with an unusually upbeat character.

Super smooth ride, responsive steering, seats great for back problems, large interior and cool edgy look! I purchased the 2015 Kia Soul + and so far the only down sides are rear passenger side blind spot, and not quick to accelerate. Best purchase Ive ever made! Truly an amazing car!

|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $8,202 |
| Year-Round Low | $7,621.40 |
| Year-Round High | $8,379.64 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $8,147 |
| Change vs. Last Year | +0.68% |
Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.
There are 1,234 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory for shoppers to compare.
If you find a listing below $7,621.40, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2015 Kia Soul a good car?
Generally — the 2015 Kia Soul earns a 4.36/5 user rating and an 8.00/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness and Safety.
Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, comfort, and value for money. They also highlight the good fuel economy and fun driving experience, which lines up with the Soul’s everyday usefulness and personality-first appeal. That makes it a strong fit if you want a small car that feels practical without blending into the crowd.
The share of listings marked as good or great deals is 29.9%, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2015 Kia Soul reliable?
Owners rate it 4.36/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owners also describe the Soul as dependable in the ways that matter most for used-car ownership: it is praised for being practical, comfortable, and good on fuel, with few complaints centered on major durability concerns. The expert notes reinforce that impression by pointing to dependable ownership expectations and low-cost ownership potential.
The cost-effectiveness notes also mention free UVO eServices and a strong ownership-value case, which helps reduce day-to-day running friction. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the Soul’s basic durability and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not worn down by age or neglect.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Kia Soul?
At 56.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing has any accident record or incomplete service history. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the car’s equipment and safety features work as expected. Because the Soul’s appeal depends so much on value and usability, condition matters a lot more than cosmetic charm alone.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The loaded test vehicle adds leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, an 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, premium audio, LED interior lighting, HID headlights, LED running lights, a heated steering wheel, heated front and rear seats, ventilated front seats, Smart Key entry, and push-button start. The base setup lacks several of those comfort and convenience upgrades.
- Powertrain: The Soul uses a 164-hp, 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine with a 6-speed automatic and front-wheel drive. It feels lively around town and handles inclines without much trouble, but more power would still be welcome.
- Safety package: The Soul includes 911 Connect through UVO eServices, plus Speed Alert, Curfew Alert, Geo Fence, and Driving Score features. It also has a reversing camera, but it lacks blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert.
- Infotainment: The test vehicle has an 8-inch touchscreen, Kia UVO eServices, navigation, Bluetooth audio, Pandora internet radio, USB connectivity, Siri Eyes Free, Google Local Search, and My POI. The system also supports remote destination sending.
- Fuel efficiency: The expert test drive returned 24.6 mpg in combined driving, compared with EPA estimates of 23 mpg city and 31 mpg highway.

It adds leather seats, a panoramic sunroof, an 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, premium audio, heated and ventilated seating, Smart Key entry, and push-button start, making it the best match if you care most about comfort and tech.
The safety-package note to keep in mind is that the Soul includes 911 Connect, Speed Alert, Curfew Alert, Geo Fence, and Driving Score features, but it does not offer blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Kia Soul?
This is a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient and compare listings carefully.
- Deal availability: 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,234 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 56.2% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $7,621.40, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Kia Soul's resale value?
The current average of $8,202 sits slightly above last year's $8,147.
That small increase suggests the Soul has held its value fairly well rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For a future seller, that kind of stability is useful because it points to a market that is still willing to pay for the model’s mix of personality, practicality, and value.
The steady pricing also means you are less likely to face a sudden drop in demand if you keep the car in good condition. A well-kept Soul should remain appealing to shoppers who want something distinctive but still easy to live with.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.36/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2015 Kia Soul safe?
The Soul earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
The safety content highlights 911 Connect through UVO eServices, which can automatically alert emergency responders after a collision if a paired smartphone is present. It also includes Speed Alert, Curfew Alert, Geo Fence, and Driving Score features aimed at helping parents monitor younger drivers.
The main caveat is that the Soul lacks blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, which is a meaningful omission if you want more modern active safety tech. That makes it worth checking carefully whether the specific car you are considering has the features you want, especially if you plan to use it as a family or commuter vehicle.
Should I buy a 2015 Kia Soul or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 56.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.36/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- It combines strong value, personality, and technology with solid safety ratings.
Consider the 2014 if:
- At $7,045, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $8,202 average.
- It is described as a fuel-efficient daily-driver hatch with a distinctive personality.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around package, the 2015 is the better pick because it pairs stable pricing with strong owner satisfaction and a well-rounded feature set. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2014 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers the Soul’s core appeal.
