What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Ford Fusion?

At 56.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has any signs of prior bodywork or electrical quirks. Focus on how the interior controls work, since the Fusion’s touch-heavy setup can be frustrating if anything is malfunctioning. Also pay close attention to seat comfort and overall cabin condition, since those are the kinds of issues owners notice over time.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Titanium test car shows that higher trims can bring a more upscale feel and extra-cost equipment, while simpler versions may be the better value if you mainly want the styling and core sedan strengths.
• Powertrain: The 2.0-liter EcoBoost delivers strong acceleration, while the smaller turbocharged 1.6-liter is described as quieter and more refined; AWD is available for added traction.
• Safety package: Ford’s safety suite includes a reversing camera, blind-spot information with cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and inflatable rear seat belts.
• Infotainment: The MyFord Touch system uses a display-based interface that can be slow and distracting to operate, especially compared with more intuitive knob-and-button setups.
• Fuel efficiency: The 2.0-liter AWD setup is described as returning around 25 mpg combined, with a real-world average of 20.5 mpg in testing.

The current average of $8,237 sits slightly below last year's $8,606.

That softer pricing suggests the Fusion is still accessible on the used market, but it also means future sellers may not see strong appreciation. If you buy well, you can reduce your exposure to depreciation by starting from a lower entry price.

The Fusion’s broad appeal helps support demand, especially because shoppers respond to its styling, comfort, and feature content. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Ford Fusion safe?

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford equips the Fusion with a reversing camera, blind-spot information with cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and inflatable rear seat belts. Those features give you a strong safety toolkit, but the side-impact result is a reminder to review crash performance carefully before buying.

Should I buy a 2015 Ford Fusion or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 26.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.29% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It stands out for its stylish design, strong handling, and broad feature set.

Consider the 2014 if:

• At $7,693, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $8,237 average.
• It feels fresh and modern thanks to being just one year removed from a redesign.

The bottom line: If you want the better all-around shopping target, the 2015 is the stronger pick because it combines a lower current price trend with strong owner satisfaction and broad appeal. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2014 is the better value play, especially if you find one in clean condition with the features you want.
