Used 2015 Ford Expedition for Sale nearVirginia Beach, VA

How much does the 2015 Ford Expedition cost?

Prices have softened 5.88% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 595 listings available, which suggests a modest but workable amount of inventory for shoppers.

Is the 2015 Ford Expedition a good car?

Yes — 4.5/5 is a strong user rating for this model year, and the expert score is 8.17/10. The model scores 9/10 across Performance, Technology, and Safety.

The 2015 Expedition is a full-size SUV with a familiar, long-running design and a meaningful mechanical update for the year: Ford swaps in a more fuel-efficient EcoBoost V6. That makes it a straightforward choice if you want a large three-row SUV with strong utility, a comfortable ride, and a modernized powertrain direction without a full redesign.

31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2015 Ford Expedition reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2015 Expedition’s appeal comes from its established platform, its roomy packaging, and the fact that Ford’s EcoBoost V6 gives it a more modern mechanical setup than the outgoing V8. The expert evaluation also points to a quiet ride, solid braking, and strong everyday drivability for a large SUV.

The powertrain change is a plus for used buyers because it brings better efficiency without giving up the kind of power you expect in a full-size SUV. The main long-term ownership risk is that a large, older SUV can still bring higher running costs, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Ford Expedition?

At 62.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on suspension, brakes, and any towing-related wear. Because this is a large, older SUV, you’ll want to focus on overall condition, evidence of regular maintenance, and whether the features you care about are present on the specific trim you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The XLT is the base trim and includes manual air conditioning, rear auxiliary climate control, power windows and door locks, a rear-view camera, and a reverse-sensing system. Higher trims add more comfort and convenience, with the Limited turning many options standard and the Platinum loading on nearly everything available.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses the 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost with 365 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque paired with a 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. The switch away from the V8 is the key mechanical change for this year, and the engine is described as strong enough that you do not feel short on power.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes 6 airbags, rear-door child-safety locks, power 4-wheel antilock disc brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, a tire pressure monitoring system, and SOS post-crash alert system. A rear-view camera and reverse-sensing system are standard, while blind-spot information with cross-traffic alert and forward sensing are available on higher trims.
• Infotainment: The base XLT uses Sync with MyFord Voice and a 4.2-inch center display with AM/FM/SiriusXM satellite radio, a single-disc CD player, USB port, and AppLink. Higher trims get Sync with MyFord Touch with an 8-inch touchscreen, two 4.2-inch instrument-cluster screens, and a second USB port.
• Fuel efficiency: The Expedition is EPA rated at 15 mpg city/20 highway/17 combined, with a test average of 16.8 mpg.

Which 2015 Ford Expedition trim should I buy?

The 2015 Ford Expedition is offered in 8 trim levels: XLT, XLT EL, XLT Premium, Limited, Limited EL, King Ranch, Platinum, and Platinum EL.

Here's the short version:

• XLT: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Expedition experience with the standard V6 EcoBoost, seating for eight, a rear-view camera, reverse sensing, and the basic Sync with MyFord Voice system. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, but it is also the most stripped-down version.
• XLT EL: Choose this if you want the same equipment as the XLT but prefer the longer wheelbase. It is mainly about space and body style rather than added features.
• XLT Premium: This is the best-value step up if you want more comfort without jumping too far up the price ladder. It adds dual-zone electronic automatic temperature control, a premium audio setup with subwoofer, a leather-wrapped shift knob, and woodgrain interior trim accents.
• Limited: This is the trim that starts to feel properly upscale, with standard heated and cooled front seats, HD Radio, a power liftgate, second-row heated outboard seats, dual-zone climate control, remote start, and forward sensing. It also gets the upgraded Sync with MyFord Touch system, making it the strongest all-around choice for many shoppers.
• Limited EL: Pick this if you want the Limited’s equipment with the longer wheelbase. It keeps the same feature set and simply adds the extra length.
• King Ranch: This is the style-and-luxury choice, with Mesa Brown leather, King Ranch badging, power deployable running boards, a power moonroof, and distinctive interior and exterior trim. It suits you best if you want the most character-rich Expedition.
• Platinum: This is the top luxury trim and makes nearly every available feature standard. It is the right pick if you want the most content and do not mind paying for it.
• Platinum EL: Choose this if you want the Platinum’s full luxury content with the longer wheelbase.

The safety package is strong across the lineup, but the base trim is the one most likely to leave you wanting more convenience and tech.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Ford Expedition?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 595 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.88% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,262, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Ford Expedition's resale value?

The current average of $11,445 sits slightly below last year's $12,159.

That decline suggests the market has eased, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also mean future resale gains are limited unless you choose a well-kept example. For a future seller, the key is to buy a clean, well-documented truck and avoid overpaying up front, because condition will matter more than mileage alone in a large SUV like this.

The price trend also shows that demand is still active enough to support the model, but not so hot that values are climbing. If you keep maintenance records and choose a desirable trim in strong condition, you give yourself the best chance of holding value better than average.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Ford Expedition safe?

The 2015 Ford Expedition earns five-star overall ratings from NHTSA, with five-star frontal and side crash ratings, and four-star rollover ratings for 4WD models or three-star rollover ratings for RWD versions.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes 6 airbags, rear-door child-safety locks, power 4-wheel antilock disc brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, a tire pressure monitoring system, SOS post-crash alert system, a rear-view camera, and a reverse-sensing system. Available features include forward sensing, blind-spot information, and cross-traffic alert.

The Expedition’s size and standard safety hardware give it a reassuring feel, but you should pay attention to drivetrain choice because rollover ratings vary by configuration.

Should I buy a 2015 Ford Expedition or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 31.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.88% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Expert or safety highlight specific to this year from the expert summary: Ford replaces the V8 with a more fuel-efficient EcoBoost V6, making this model year notable for its mechanical update.

The bottom line: The 2015 Expedition is the right pick if you want a full-size SUV with a meaningful efficiency-minded powertrain update, strong expert scores, and a market that currently favors careful shoppers. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can use the softer pricing and decent inventory to target a clean, well-equipped example rather than settling for the first one you see.
