CarGurus Analysis: 2015 Acura MDX

Summary
With 892 currently listed for sale and an average price of $13,086, 30.9% of 2015 Acura MDXs for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2015 Acura MDX 4.6 / 5 stars.
57.2% of 2015 MDX models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2015 Acura MDX stands out as a three-row luxury SUV that blends comfort, practicality, and a strong reputation for quality. Acura’s MDX has long been known for offering a third row, and this generation also brought more technology and a more upscale feel than before. For buyers who want a midsize luxury SUV with room for the family and a polished driving experience, that combination is a big part of its appeal.
What makes the 2015 model especially distinctive is the third generation’s mix of efficiency and equipment. It uses a re-engineered 3.5-liter V6 rated at 290 horsepower, and Acura made front-wheel drive available for the first time to help boost fuel economy. The MDX also earned a 21 mpg combined EPA rating with Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive, while the front-wheel-drive version could get up to 23 mpg combined. Inside, the model brought a dual-screen infotainment setup, and features that were once reserved for higher trims became more common, including ventilated seats and driver-assist gear such as adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking.
There are tradeoffs, though. The infotainment system was not especially easy to use, and the third row is still tight. Interior room also shrank compared with the previous generation, with less second-row legroom and less cargo space overall. Even so, the 2015 Acura MDX remains appealing because it delivers a comfortable, well-equipped, and reliable package with the kind of three-row versatility many luxury SUVs of its era did not offer.

| Year-Round Low | $13,065 |
| Year-Round High | $14,348 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $14,347 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −8.90% |
Prices have softened 8.90% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 886 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.
Is the 2015 Acura MDX a good car?
Yes — the 4.6/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its reliability, spaciousness, and performance, and many also like the comfortable seating and advanced technologies. For you, that makes it a strong fit if you want a three-row luxury SUV with family-friendly versatility and a polished driving experience. With 31.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.
Is the 2015 Acura MDX reliable?
Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback highlights reliability, and many drivers describe it as dependable and trouble-free over time. That matters if you want a used luxury SUV you can count on for daily use, winter driving, and family duty. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific vehicle has been maintained well and has a clean history.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Acura MDX?
At 57.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. Then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing has been in an accident or shows signs of uneven wear. Focus on overall condition, interior functionality, and evidence of consistent maintenance, since those details matter most in a used luxury SUV.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Acura MDX?
This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep buyer’s-market discount.
- Deal availability: 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 886 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.90% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 57.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $13,065, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Acura MDX's resale value?
The current average of $13,070 sits slightly below last year's $14,347.
That softer pricing suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more selectively now but may also limit near-term upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key is to buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition so you preserve as much value as possible. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2015 Acura MDX or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 57.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.90% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2014 if:
- At $12,144, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $13,070 average.
- It emphasizes a polished, athletic driving feel with broad owner praise for comfort and space.
Consider the 2016 if:
- At $14,667, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $13,070 average.
- It adds a new 9-speed automatic and leans harder into safety and refinement.
The bottom line: The 2015 is the best all-around pick if you want a well-liked, well-equipped three-row luxury SUV at a softer price than newer alternatives. If your priority is saving money, the 2014 is the better value path; if you want to spend more for the next-year update, the 2016 is the alternative to compare.
