Is the 2014 Volkswagen Tiguan a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Volkswagen Tiguan earns a 4.75/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its spacious interior, high-quality upholstery, comfortable feel, and performance, and many say it compares favorably with pricier brands. That makes it a good fit if you want a compact SUV with a more premium, carlike character and a comfortable daily-driving experience. With 35.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding one that fits your budget.

Is the 2014 Volkswagen Tiguan reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a vehicle that feels dependable in everyday use, with many drivers describing positive ownership experiences over time. Some mention minor issues, but the overall tone suggests the Tiguan can be a trouble-free choice when it has been maintained well. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure you avoid examples with unresolved mechanical or electrical problems.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Volkswagen Tiguan?

At 58.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report first so you can screen for accident damage, title issues, and inconsistent ownership records. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of the body, interior, and mechanical condition, since a clean-looking listing can still hide past repairs. Focus especially on overall maintenance quality and signs of wear that could affect long-term ownership costs.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Volkswagen Tiguan?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 474 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.39% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 58.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $7,799, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Volkswagen Tiguan's resale value?

The current average of $7,858 sits slightly below last year's $8,394.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make resale a little more challenging if you buy at the wrong price. If you plan to sell later, your best protection is to buy carefully and avoid overpaying now. A well-kept example with strong appeal should still hold buyer interest better than one with visible wear or a rough history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2014 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.39% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2014 is the better path if you want the updated styling, strong owner satisfaction, and a market that currently gives you some negotiating room. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also use the softer pricing trend to compare this year carefully against nearby model years and focus on the cleanest, best-maintained example rather than the cheapest one.
