At 61.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage matches the seller’s disclosure. Put a pre-purchase inspection at the top of your list, especially if the truck has been used for towing, off-road driving, or heavy work. Focus closely on overall condition, since wear and tear can vary a lot from one Tacoma to another.

Should I buy a 2014 Toyota Tacoma or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.78% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $20,357, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $19,284 average.
• It adds a limited-production TRD Pro trim for more off-road focus.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2014 is the stronger starting point because it combines a lower average price with solid owner satisfaction and decent deal availability. If you’re willing to pay more for a more off-road-focused setup, the 2015 is the better secondary path.
