How much does the 2014 Toyota RAV4 cost?

Prices are up 2.99% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,882 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2014 Toyota RAV4 a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Toyota RAV4 earns a 4.88/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 8/10.

Drivers consistently praise its reliability, smooth driving experience, and spacious interior. The review summary also points to good gas mileage and practical everyday usefulness, which fits the RAV4’s roomy, utility-first crossover setup. If you want a vehicle that prioritizes space and easygoing versatility over flash, this year’s RAV4 lines up well with that use case. 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are still attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2014 Toyota RAV4 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.88/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary repeatedly emphasizes reliability, and it also frames the RAV4 as a practical choice that drivers can count on for everyday use. The expert summary reinforces that it has a near-impervious reputation for being the practical choice, and the performance notes describe the engine as smooth and durable. The cost-effectiveness commentary also supports the idea that it is built to do the job rather than chase flash.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that safety and power compromises can matter more as mileage and age add up.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Toyota RAV4?

At 53.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing has any accident history. Focus on body condition, repair quality, and whether the vehicle tracks straight and brakes cleanly, since the safety notes point to meaningful concerns in crash protection and stopping performance. It is also worth checking that the equipment level matches what you expect, because some of the more desirable features were tied to higher trims.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Limited trim adds the most equipment, including the JBL multimedia system with navigation and the Technology Package, while the base setup is much more stripped back on convenience and safety tech.
• Powertrain: The RAV4 uses a 176-hp 2.5-liter inline 4-cylinder with a 6-speed automatic, and AWD versions are rated at 22 mpg city/29 highway for 25 mpg combined.
• Safety package: The Technology Package adds blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, lane-departure alert, and auto high beams, but those features are limited to the Limited trim.
• Infotainment: The Limited’s Entune JBL multimedia system adds apps and services, navigation, and a touchscreen interface, though the screen can be finicky and wash out in sunlight.
• Fuel efficiency: AWD models are rated at 22 mpg city/29 highway and 25 mpg combined, while FWD models are rated at 24 mpg city/31 highway.

Which 2014 Toyota RAV4 trim should I buy?

The 2014 Toyota RAV4 is offered in 1 trim level: Limited.

Here's the short version:

The Limited is the trim to target if you want the most complete version of this RAV4, since it bundles the richer infotainment setup and the available Technology Package. It is the best-value choice if you care about getting the safety and convenience features that were otherwise restricted to the top trim. If you want the most equipment in one shot, this is the one to focus on.

The safety-package features are tied to the Limited trim with the Technology Package, so make sure a listing actually includes that package before you buy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Toyota RAV4?

This looks like a moderate, selective-buyer market: there are deals to be found, but you should still compare carefully.

• Deal availability: 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,882 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.99% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 53.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,843, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Toyota RAV4's resale value?

The current average of $13,630 sits slightly above last year's $13,234.

That upward move suggests the market still values this model year’s practicality and utility. For a future seller, that means well-kept examples should remain relatively easy to position, especially if they have clean history and desirable equipment. The combination of steady demand and a broad shopper base helps support resale strength.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.88/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Toyota RAV4 safe?

The 2014 Toyota RAV4 earns a four-star rating for frontal crash protection and rollover from NHTSA, and five-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests. The IIHS gave it a Poor rating in the small-overlap frontal-offset crash test, while other IIHS tests earned Good ratings.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety equipment includes 8 airbags, full-length curtain airbags, a driver’s-knee airbag, whiplash-injury-lessening seats, and stability and traction control. The Technology Package adds blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic alert, lane-departure alert, and auto high beams, but those features are limited to the Limited trim. The poor small-overlap result is the main caveat you should keep in mind.

Should I buy a 2014 Toyota RAV4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 53.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.99% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.88/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 RAV4 is practical and dependable, but its safety compromises and lack of power are notable tradeoffs.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $14,638, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $13,630 average.
• It brings improved crash-test ratings and a more appealing overall package.

The bottom line: If you want the lower-priced option and value space, utility, and strong owner satisfaction, the 2014 is the better starting point. If you can spend more and want the next year’s improved safety standing, the 2015 is the smarter upgrade for many shoppers.
