Is the 2014 Toyota Camry a good car?

Generally — the 2014 Toyota Camry earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating, which points to a well-liked, well-rounded used sedan. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, comfort, fuel efficiency, spacious trunk, and smooth ride. That lines up with the Camry’s role as straightforward, affordable, safe transportation for everyday commuting and family use.

With the Camry’s practical, no-drama character, you’re looking at a car that fits buyers who want easy ownership more than excitement. The market also shows 30.4% good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

You also get free scheduled maintenance for the first two years or 25,000 miles of driving, which helps reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by years of everyday use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Toyota Camry?

At 47.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in a collision or has incomplete service records. Focus on overall condition, maintenance history, and whether the car still feels tight, quiet, and well cared for on the road.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Camry lineup ranges from the basic L to the better-equipped LE and XLE, with the SE adding a sportier look and firmer tuning. The base model is the most stripped-down, while the higher trims add features like automatic headlights, remote keyless entry, fog lights, chrome trim, heated mirrors, dual-zone climate control, and more upscale interior touches.
• Powertrain: You can choose a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder or an optional 3.5-liter V6. The 4-cylinder is the efficiency-minded choice, while the V6 brings much stronger acceleration and a more energetic feel.
• Safety package: Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are available on the SE, XLE, and XLE Hybrid. Safety Connect is reserved for the XLE and Hybrid XLE, so lower trims miss out on those telematics features.
• Infotainment: Entune Audio Plus is available on higher trims, and the system is described as easy to pair with a smartphone and simple to use. The available tech is straightforward rather than cutting-edge.
• Fuel efficiency: The 4-cylinder is rated at 28 mpg in combined driving, while the V6 is rated at 25 mpg combined. The Camry Hybrid is rated at about 40 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2014 Toyota Camry trim should I buy?

The 2014 Toyota Camry is offered in 4 trim levels: L, LE, XLE, SE.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the most basic Camry, and it’s the one to choose only if your priority is the lowest possible entry price. It’s very bare-bones, with dealers installing the only upgrades, so it makes the most sense if you just want simple transportation and don’t care much about convenience features.
• LE: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers. It adds a fancier grille, automatic headlights, and remote keyless entry, and it can be optioned with useful upgrades like an 8-way power driver’s seat, Entune Audio Plus, and a power sunroof.
• XLE: This is the comfort-focused choice if you want a more upscale feel. It adds fog lights, extra chrome trim, 17-inch aluminum wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated outside mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, and Entune Audio Plus.
• SE: This is the pick if you want the sportiest Camry. It gets a sport suspension, structural bracing, paddle shifters, unique wheels, a body kit, a rear spoiler, and a more aggressive appearance, but the ride is firmer than other trims.

Safety Connect is available only on the XLE and Hybrid XLE, while Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are available on the SE, XLE, and XLE Hybrid.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Toyota Camry?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,541 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.55% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 47.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,347, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Toyota Camry's resale value?

The current average of $11,851 sits slightly above last year's $11,671.

That modest increase suggests the Camry’s used-market pricing has held up rather than softened. For a future seller, that’s a good sign: steady demand and a relatively stable price band can make it easier to resell without taking a steep hit.

The Camry’s reputation for value, reliability, and low ownership costs also helps support buyer interest over time. If you keep the car in good condition and maintain it well, you’re more likely to preserve that resale appeal.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Toyota Camry safe?

The 2014 Toyota Camry earns a Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota’s Safety Connect telematics system includes Roadside Assistance, SOS Emergency Assistance, Automatic Collision Notification, and a Stolen-Vehicle Locator. Blind-Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are also available on select trims, but not every version gets those features.

One important caveat is that the safety picture depends on build timing: examples assembled before January 2014 were rated Poor in the small overlap frontal-impact test, while the 2014.5 model built after December 2013 earned the stronger IIHS recognition.

Should I buy a 2014 Toyota Camry or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 47.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.55% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2014.5 build brings a Top Safety Pick rating and stronger safety credentials.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $13,078, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $11,851 average.
• It adds more appealing styling and a more polished interior.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2014 is the smarter buy because it keeps prices lower while still delivering the Camry’s core strengths. If you’re willing to pay more for a fresher look and a more modern-feeling cabin, the 2015 is the better upgrade path.

How does the 2014 Toyota Camry compare to the 2014 Honda Accord?

Our experts score the 2014 Toyota Camry 7.5/10 and the 2014 Honda Accord 9.2/10.

The Camry is the more value-focused choice, with a lower average used price and a stronger good-and-great deal share. The Accord brings more power, better fuel economy, and a higher expert score, which makes it the stronger all-around pick if you want a more polished midsize sedan.

The Camry still has appeal if you want straightforward transportation, a dependable ownership experience, and a lower entry cost. The Accord is the better choice if you want the more compelling driving and efficiency package.
