Is the 2014 Tesla Model S a good car?

Generally — the 4.17/5 user rating points to a strong ownership experience for this model year. Owners consistently praise its outstanding performance, modern features, premium sound system, and luxurious interior, while also appreciating the lower operating costs that come with electric driving. The overview also makes clear that this car is best suited to you if you want a tech-forward luxury sedan that feels ahead of its time rather than a conventional gas-powered alternative. With 24.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Tesla Model S reliable?

Owners rate it 4.17/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a car that many drivers find dependable enough to keep and enjoy over time, especially when they value the low running costs of electric ownership. At the same time, service availability and pricing come up as recurring concerns, so long-term ownership risk for used buyers is less about basic satisfaction and more about how well the car has been maintained and supported.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Tesla Model S?

At 74.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with accident records or other red flags. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention on overall condition, signs of prior repair work, and how well the car has been cared for. Because this model is technology-heavy, you should also focus on whether the features you care about work properly and whether the car presents as a well-kept example rather than just a low-price listing.

What is the 2014 Tesla Model S's resale value?

The current average of $15,181 sits slightly above last year's $14,986.

That modest increase suggests the market has held up reasonably well, which is a positive sign if you plan to sell later. The price trend also indicates that buyers still place value on this model year’s mix of performance and technology, so well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones. If you maintain the car carefully and keep documentation in order, you improve your odds of getting stronger interest when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.17/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2014 Tesla Model S or consider a different year?
