What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Subaru Outback?

At 59.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Start with a vehicle history report so you can screen for accidents, title issues, and inconsistent mileage records. You should also focus on overall condition and maintenance records, since a clean-looking listing can still hide expensive problems.

What is the 2014 Subaru Outback's resale value?

The current average of $8,774 sits slightly below last year's $9,361.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stays steady. Because the Outback still draws interest from buyers who want all-wheel drive and practical utility, well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones. Condition, mileage, and service history will matter a lot when you go to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2014 Subaru Outback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.27% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $10,772, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $8,774 average.
• It brings a bigger, redesigned package with more everyday usefulness.

The bottom line: Choose the 2014 if you want the lower entry price and strong owner satisfaction. If you can stretch your budget, the 2015 is the better path for buyers who want the newer redesign and are willing to pay more for it.
