Is the 2014 RAM 2500 a good car?

Yes — the 2014 RAM 2500 earns a 4.55/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the towing capacity, powerful engine, and spacious interior, and many also like the comfort and durability of the Laramie trim. With 29.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 RAM 2500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.55/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also highlights dependable performance, durability, and a truck that many people feel confident using for both work and daily driving. That kind of praise suggests the 2014 RAM 2500 can be a reassuring choice if you want a used heavy-duty truck you can count on over time. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure prior use and maintenance history are clean before you commit.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 RAM 2500?

At 65.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any damage was structural, cosmetic, or repaired poorly. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on the truck’s condition, especially signs of hard use, uneven wear, or deferred maintenance. Because this is a heavy-duty truck, you’ll want to pay close attention to how well it has been maintained rather than relying on appearance alone.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 RAM 2500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 959 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.31% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $24,933, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 RAM 2500's resale value?

The current average of $24,933 sits slightly below last year's $26,055.

That tells you the market has eased, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. If you’re thinking ahead to resale, the softer pricing trend suggests future value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and maintenance history. Trucks that present well and have clean records should hold up better than examples with visible wear or accident history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.55/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2014 RAM 2500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.31% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.55/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a heavy-duty truck with strong owner approval, a more upscale cabin, and a market that currently gives you some negotiating room, the 2014 is a sensible primary target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can also keep nearby years in play and focus on the cleanest, best-maintained truck you can find rather than chasing the newest badge alone.
