Used 2014 Nissan Sentra for Sale nearSilver Spring, MD

How much does the 2014 Nissan Sentra cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 591 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2014 Nissan Sentra a good car?

Generally — the 2014 Nissan Sentra earns a 4.25/5 user rating and a 6.00/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Form and function and Technology.

The Sentra’s appeal is straightforward: it is a roomy and relatively fuel-efficient small car that prioritizes everyday usefulness, comfort, and practicality over excitement. That makes it a sensible fit if you want compact-car size without giving up interior space, but it also means you should not expect much personality or driving engagement.

25.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there is still some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2014 Nissan Sentra reliable?

Owners rate it 4.25/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Sentra is presented as a practical compact car with a roomy cabin and trunk, and its expert evaluation points to average quality and reliability rather than standout durability. Its 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine and CVT are described as adequate and fairly quiet in normal driving, which supports the idea of a car built for routine commuting rather than hard use.

Nissan also includes some ownership-friendly touches, including a fuel-economy-focused powertrain and an Easy Fill Tire Alert system on higher trims that helps you keep tires properly inflated. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the car’s average reliability reputation and modest mechanical refinement make condition and maintenance history especially important.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Nissan Sentra?

At 51.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or shows uneven panel gaps, tire wear, or warning lights. Focus on overall condition, because this model’s value depends heavily on finding a clean example rather than assuming every listing is equally sound.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes basic S, popular SV, sporty SR and upscale SL trims. Base S models are the most stripped down, and you may need to move up or add packages to get features like Bluetooth and a USB port.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine with 130 horsepower and 128 lb-ft of torque. The S trim can be had with a 6-speed manual, while other versions use a CVT; the setup is tuned more for efficiency than quick acceleration.
• Safety package: The Sentra’s safety content highlights a rearview camera in the Navigation Package, and the Leather Package on SL trims adds rear disc brakes. The Safety content also notes that the car’s crash performance is mixed, so trim and package choices matter.
• Infotainment: The screen measures 5.8 inches, and Bluetooth and a USB port are not standard on the base S trim. NissanConnect features, voice-recognition navigation, and a reversing camera are included with the Navigation Package, while the Premium Package adds an 8-speaker Bose audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimates 30 mpg city, 39 mpg highway, and 34 mpg combined. Nissan also offers a Fuel Economy Plus package on S and SV models that raises highway mileage to 40 mpg.

Which 2014 Nissan Sentra trim should I buy?

The 2014 Nissan Sentra is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SV, SR and SL.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the least expensive way into the Sentra, but it is also the most bare-bones. It is the trim to choose only if price matters most and you are comfortable giving up convenience features that show up on higher versions.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds more everyday usability without pushing you all the way to the top of the range. If you want a sensible balance of price and equipment, this is the one to target first.
• SR: This trim adds a sportier look and can be paired with useful equipment packages, but the content does not suggest it transforms the Sentra into a genuinely sporty car. Choose it if you want a more expressive appearance and are willing to pay for it.
• SL: This is the most upscale version and the one to consider if you want the most comfort and convenience features. It is also the trim where Bluetooth and a USB port are standard, which makes it the easiest recommendation if tech matters most.

The Safety content also notes that the Leather Package on SL trims adds rear disc brakes, while the Driver Package on SR trims does the same.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Nissan Sentra?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on a clean, well-priced example.

• Deal availability: 25.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 591 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 51.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $6,709, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Nissan Sentra's resale value?

The current average of $6,941 sits slightly below last year's $6,988.

That small decline suggests the Sentra’s resale value has been fairly stable rather than volatile. For a future seller, that usually means you are less likely to see dramatic swings, but you also should not expect the model to suddenly command a premium.

Its practical strengths help keep it relevant with budget-minded shoppers, especially if the car is roomy, clean, and well maintained. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.25/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Nissan Sentra safe?

The 2014 Nissan Sentra earns an overall four-star rating from NHTSA and a Good rating from IIHS in all assessments except the small overlap frontal-impact test, where it receives a Poor rating.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The Sentra’s safety equipment discussion centers on a reversing camera in the Navigation Package, while the Safety content also notes that rear disc brakes are tied to higher-level packages rather than being universal. The mixed crash-test results are the main caution here, especially the poor small-overlap result, which is a meaningful shortcoming for used buyers who prioritize crash protection.

Should I buy a 2014 Nissan Sentra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 25.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 51.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.25/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It is a roomy and relatively fuel-efficient compact car that emphasizes comfort and everyday practicality over excitement.

The bottom line: If you want the Sentra’s roomy cabin, comfort, and efficiency at a stable used-car price, the 2014 model makes sense as a value-focused buy. If you are shopping on a tighter budget, the 2014 can still work well, but you should be especially selective about condition, accident history, and trim level so you do not overpay for a rough example.
