Used 2014 Nissan Sentra for Sale nearNew Haven, CT

How much does the 2014 Nissan Sentra cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 595 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2014 Nissan Sentra a good car?

Generally — the 2014 Nissan Sentra earns a 4.25/5 user rating and a 6.00/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Form and function and Technology.

The Sentra’s appeal is straightforward: it is a roomy and relatively fuel-efficient small car that works well if you want everyday usefulness without moving up to a larger vehicle. At the same time, it does not do much to stand out in a crowded compact-car segment, so its strengths are practical rather than exciting.

27.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2014 Nissan Sentra reliable?

Owners rate it 4.25/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Sentra is described as roomy and relatively fuel-efficient, and its expert evaluation points to average-at-best quality and reliability expectations. Its powertrain is tuned more for efficiency than excitement, and the CVT is presented as a key part of that strategy.

The cost-effectiveness notes also point to a modest ownership proposition, with a 4-star depreciation rating and some competitive pressure from rivals. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk looks manageable, but you should still pay close attention to maintenance history and overall condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Nissan Sentra?

At 53.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in a collision. Focus on body condition, panel alignment, tire wear, and signs that the car has been repaired well rather than just made to look presentable.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sentra is offered in basic S, popular SV, sporty SR and upscale SL trims. The base S is the most stripped-down version, while the SL adds the most upscale feel and equipment.
• Powertrain: Every version uses a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder engine with 130 horsepower and 128 lb-ft of torque. The S trim can be had with a 6-speed manual, while the other versions use a CVT that is tuned to maximize fuel economy.
• Safety package: The Sentra’s safety content highlights a rear-disc-brake upgrade tied to the Driver Package for the SR trim and the Leather Package for the SL trim. Those package-dependent differences matter if you want the better-equipped versions.
• Infotainment: The screen measures 5.8 inches, and Bluetooth and a USB port are not standard on the base S. NissanConnect, navigation, and a reversing camera are tied to higher trims or packages.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA figures are 30 mpg city, 39 mpg highway, and 34 mpg combined. The FE+ package raises highway mileage to 40 mpg.

Which 2014 Nissan Sentra trim should I buy?

The 2014 Nissan Sentra is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SV, SR and SL.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the least expensive way into the Sentra, but it is also the most basic. If you want the lowest purchase price and can live without the nicer tech and convenience features, this is the trim to target.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more everyday usability without jumping all the way to the top of the range. It is the sensible middle ground if you want a better-equipped Sentra without paying for the most expensive version.
• SR: Choose this if you want a sportier look and the equipment that comes with the trim’s more upscale presentation. It also opens the door to package content that improves the car’s feature set.
• SL: This is the most upscale version and the one to buy if you want the most comfort and convenience equipment. It is the trim that best fits shoppers who care most about a more complete ownership experience.

The safety-package note to keep in mind is that rear disc brakes are tied to the Driver Package on the SR and the Leather Package on the SL.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Nissan Sentra?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 27.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 595 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 53.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $6,709, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Nissan Sentra's resale value?

The current average of $6,963 sits slightly below last year's $7,013.

That small decline suggests the Sentra has been holding fairly steady rather than dropping sharply, which is a useful sign if you plan to resell later. A stable price pattern can help support future trade-in or private-party value because it signals that the market still sees consistent demand.

The Sentra’s practical strengths — especially its roomy cabin and fuel efficiency — help it stay relevant to budget-minded shoppers. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.25/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Nissan Sentra safe?

The 2014 Nissan Sentra earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, mainly because it delivers a three-star level of protection to the front passenger in the frontal-impact test. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives it Good ratings in all assessments except the small overlap frontal-impact test, where it receives a Poor rating.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety content also points to a meaningful caveat for used buyers: the Sentra’s crash-test performance is uneven, and the small-overlap result is the main weakness to keep in mind. If safety is a top priority, you should pay close attention to repair history and condition, especially on cars that have been in prior accidents.

Should I buy a 2014 Nissan Sentra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 27.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 53.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.25/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It is a roomy and relatively fuel-efficient small car that prioritizes everyday usefulness over excitement.

The bottom line: If you want a practical compact sedan with a roomy cabin and steady pricing, the 2014 Sentra is a reasonable used-car target. If you are shopping on a tighter budget, the best path is to focus on the cleanest, best-documented example you can find rather than chasing the cheapest listing, because accident history and condition matter a lot here.
