Yes — the 2014 Nissan Rogue earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 6.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

The Rogue’s value-oriented setup makes the most sense if you want a practical compact crossover rather than a flashy one. With 28.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Nissan Rogue reliable?

If you’re buying used, the main ownership risk is that this redesign was new for 2014, so long-term durability can vary more than with a carryover model.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Nissan Rogue?

At 53.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, safety equipment, and interior condition. Because the Rogue was offered with a wide spread of equipment, it’s worth confirming that the features you want are actually present and functioning as advertised. Pay close attention to signs of prior repair, especially if you’re shopping a lower-priced listing.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Rogue S, Rogue SV, and Rogue SL each bring different equipment levels, and the SL adds leather seats with heating, navigation, a premium Bose audio system, a power rear liftgate, fog lights, 18-inch aluminum wheels, heated exterior mirrors with LED turn-signal indicators, and Around View Monitoring. The base trim is the one most likely to leave you without the richer convenience and safety content.
• Powertrain: You get a 170-horsepower, 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with a next-generation Xtronic CVT. Front-wheel drive is standard, all-wheel drive is available, and the AWD setup includes Hill Descent Control.
• Safety package: The Rogue includes a reversing camera and a hands-free text-messaging assistant, while the SV adds smart automatic headlights. The Premium Package on the SV adds navigation, Around View Monitor, Lane-Departure Warning, Blind-Spot Warning, and Moving-Object Detection, and the SL’s Premium Package adds Forward-Collision Warning as well.
• Infotainment: NissanConnect is standard on the SV and SL trims, and the system uses a 7-inch screen on the SL with navigation. It supports smartphone connectivity, Bluetooth calling, and hands-free text messaging, and the available Around View Monitor helps in tight spaces.
• Fuel efficiency: The Rogue is EPA-rated at 28 mpg regardless of drivetrain choice, and the review notes 26 mpg city driving.

Which 2014 Nissan Rogue trim should I buy?

The 2014 Nissan Rogue is offered in 3 trim levels: Rogue S, Rogue SV, Rogue SL.

Here's the short version:

• Rogue S: This is the entry point, and it makes the Rogue’s core value proposition accessible. It’s the trim to consider if you want the lowest-cost path into the model and don’t need the richer convenience and tech features.
• Rogue SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds NissanConnect and can be paired with the optional Premium Package for a major safety and convenience upgrade. If you want the strongest balance of price and equipment, start here.
• Rogue SL: This is the most upscale version, with leather seats, heating, navigation, a premium Bose audio system, a power rear liftgate, and standard Around View Monitoring. It’s the right pick if you want the most comfort and convenience content.

For safety-focused shoppers, the SL with the Premium Package is the trim that unlocks Forward-Collision Warning.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Nissan Rogue?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,314 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.93% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 53.2% of listings are accident-free.

What is the 2014 Nissan Rogue's resale value?

The current average of $8,774 sits slightly below last year's $9,039.

That softer pricing suggests the Rogue has become a more buyer-friendly used option, which can help you if you’re shopping now. For a future seller, it means you should expect a market that rewards clean condition, strong equipment, and a well-documented history more than simple age alone. The current price trend also shows that demand is still present, but buyers have more leverage than they did a year ago.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Nissan Rogue safe?

The 2014 Nissan Rogue earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS, and the Rogue SL with the Premium Package earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Rogue includes a reversing camera and a hands-free text-messaging assistant as standard equipment, while the SV adds smart automatic headlights. The Premium Package on the SV adds navigation, Around View Monitor, Lane-Departure Warning, Blind-Spot Warning, and Moving-Object Detection, and the SL’s Premium Package adds Forward-Collision Warning. One caveat is that the review calls out the reversing camera as low-resolution, which can make backing up less confidence-inspiring than you’d expect.

Should I buy a 2014 Nissan Rogue or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 53.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.93% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 brings a redesigned Rogue with available safety equipment at a reasonable price.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $9,418, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $8,774 average.
• It carries forward a more polished, mature design with a more elegant look.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2014 is the stronger starting point because it’s cheaper and still well liked by owners. If you’re willing to spend more for a slightly more refined presentation, the 2015 is the alternative to compare.
