How much does the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class cost?

Prices have softened 4.99% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,092 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of cars to compare.

Is the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class earns a 4.78/5 user rating and a 6.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 8/10.

Owners consistently praise its luxury features, strong performance, stylish design, handling, acceleration, and interior quality. That lines up with the car’s role as a midsize luxury sedan that aims to balance comfort with capable dynamics, especially if you want a premium-feeling daily driver with a strong brand image.

You should also expect some tradeoffs: the overview and owner feedback both point to ride softness and body lean as recurring concerns, so this is a better fit if you value comfort and refinement more than a firm, sporty chassis. Good and great deals account for 35.6% of listings, which suggests there are still attractive examples in the market.

Is the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 4.78/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a car that feels dependable in the ways luxury buyers care about most: strong performance, quality interior materials, and a generally satisfying ownership experience. The expert review also says both Consumer Reports and J.D. Power predict reliability will prove better than average over time.

The same review notes that this car is not especially cost-effective, but it also suggests you should not expect to be fixing it all the time. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright fragility and more about the cost of maintaining a premium car as it ages.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

At 58.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has higher mileage or a long option list. Pay close attention to body condition, interior wear, and any signs of squeaks, rattles, or previous repair work, since those are the kinds of issues that can matter more on an older luxury sedan.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The sedan lineup includes the E250 BlueTec, E350, E400 Hybrid, E550 4Matic, E63 AMG 4Matic, and E63 AMG S 4Matic. The E250 BlueTec and E350 can be optioned with 4Matic all-wheel drive, while the E400 Hybrid and E550 4Matic use the more aggressive appearance theme. Base versions can feel relatively plain unless you add the Sport Styling Package, which brings a sport grille, split-spoke wheels, a subtle body kit, and a sport-tuned suspension.
• Powertrain: The E350 uses a 3.5-liter V6 with a 7-speed automatic and all-wheel drive in the test car, and Mercedes also offers a fuel-efficient turbodiesel in the E250 BlueTec plus higher-output AMG variants. The E350 is rated at 302 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, and Mercedes says it can reach 60 mph in 6.5 seconds.
• Safety package: Safety equipment is grouped into the Lane Tracking Package, which includes Blind Spot Assist and Lane Keeping Assist, and the Driver Assistance Package, which adds active versions of Lane Tracking features plus Distronic Plus cruise control with Steering Assist, Pre-Safe Brake with Pedestrian Detection, Pre-Safe Plus, and Brake Assist Plus with Cross-Traffic Assist. Some of these features are optional rather than standard.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses the COMAND system, and the optional hard-drive navigation setup can pull music from AM, FM, satellite radio, Internet radio, Bluetooth, or hard-disc storage. The system also supports Mercedes-Benz Apps and mBrace2 telematics, but the review describes the interface as fussy and slow to load.
• Fuel efficiency: The E350 4Matic is rated at 21 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined. The review also notes that the E250 BlueTec is the better choice if fuel economy matters most.

Which 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class trim should I buy?

The 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is offered in 6 trim levels: E250 BlueTec, E350, E400 Hybrid, E550 4Matic, E63 AMG 4Matic, and E63 AMG S 4Matic.

Here's the short version:

• E250 BlueTec: This is the efficiency-focused choice, and it makes the most sense if you want the lowest running-cost angle in the lineup. It is the trim to consider if fuel economy matters more to you than outright performance.
• E350: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it balances strong V6 power, broad comfort, and a more approachable price point than the upper trims. It is the most natural pick if you want the core E-Class experience without paying AMG money.
• E400 Hybrid: Choose this if you want a more upscale-feeling E-Class with the more aggressive appearance theme and a different efficiency-oriented powertrain approach. It sits above the E350 in the lineup and adds a more distinctive personality.
• E550 4Matic: This is the stronger luxury-performance step-up if you want more power and standard all-wheel drive. It suits you if you want a more forceful version of the E-Class without jumping all the way to AMG.
• E63 AMG 4Matic: This is the performance-focused choice for buyers who want the most aggressive character and more standard equipment. It is the right fit if you care most about speed and high-performance hardware.
• E63 AMG S 4Matic: This is the top performance trim and the most expensive version in the lineup. Buy it only if you want the most extreme factory E-Class experience.

Safety equipment is packaged into the relatively simple Lane Tracking Package and the more complex Driver Assistance Package, so if you want the most advanced driver-assistance features, make sure the car you’re considering has the right package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough pricing softness to reward patience.

• Deal availability: 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,092 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.99% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 58.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,477, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class's resale value?

The current average of $12,751 sits slightly below last year's $13,421.

That price movement suggests the market has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right number. If you purchase near the lower end of the range, you reduce the amount of value left to lose over your ownership period.

For a future seller, the key is to buy a well-kept example with the right equipment and a clean history, because condition matters more once a luxury sedan gets older. A car that presents well and has strong service records should be easier to move when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.78/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class safe?

The 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class benefits from significant upgrades to its safety technology, packaged under the Intelligent Drive umbrella.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety setup includes Collision Prevention Assist and an improved Attention Assist system. Available driver-assistance features include Steering Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Brake Assist Plus with Cross-Traffic Assist, Pre-Safe Brake, and Pre-Safe Plus. The review also notes that these systems can feel intrusive at times, especially the lane-centering and steering-assist functions.

One important caveat is that crash tests were not performed, so there are no official crash-test ratings to cite here. That makes equipment and condition checks especially important when you shop used examples.

Should I buy a 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.99% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.78/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 stands out for its upgraded safety technology under the Intelligent Drive umbrella, including standard Collision Prevention Assist and improved Attention Assist.

The bottom line: The 2014 is a smart pick if you want the classic E-Class mix of comfort, premium feel, and strong owner satisfaction at a softened price. If you are especially price-sensitive, shop carefully for a clean, well-maintained example near the low end of the range; if you want the newest-feeling tech and broader feature spread, a nearby model year may be worth comparing.
