Is the 2014 Lexus RX a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Lexus RX earns a 4.56/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its comfort, reliability, and luxurious features, and many also call out the smooth ride and good value for a luxury SUV. That makes it a strong fit if you want a polished, practical luxury SUV for daily driving rather than something focused on sharp handling or maximum performance. With 38.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you also have a decent chance of finding a competitive price.

Is the 2014 Lexus RX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.56/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary repeatedly points to reliability, comfort, and a trouble-free ownership experience, with owners describing the RX as dependable and easy to live with over time. That kind of feedback matters if you want a used luxury SUV you can count on for regular driving. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the model’s core durability and more about how well a specific vehicle was maintained and documented.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Lexus RX?

At 49.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage or incomplete records. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing has limited maintenance documentation or dealership transparency concerns. Focus on overall condition, service history, and signs of hidden issues rather than relying on appearance alone.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Lexus RX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you’re patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 38.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 981 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 49.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,210, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Lexus RX's resale value?

The current average of $15,483 sits slightly above last year's $15,337.

That small increase suggests the RX has held its value fairly well in the near term. For a future seller, that kind of stability can be helpful because it points to steady buyer interest rather than a sharply weakening market. The RX’s comfort-focused reputation and strong owner satisfaction should continue to support demand, especially for well-kept examples with clean history and good records.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.56/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2014 Lexus RX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 38.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 49.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.56/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $17,215, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $15,483 average.
• It adds a more assertive F Sport personality.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2014 is the stronger starting point because it combines a lower average price with solid owner satisfaction. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model year and a slightly different character, the 2015 is worth a look; otherwise, the 2014 is the smarter choice for price-sensitive buyers.
