Is the 2014 Lexus IS a good car?

Yes — the 4.78/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the sleek design, luxurious interior, comfortable front seats, and sporty driving experience, while also describing it as a good value in the luxury segment. For you, that makes it a strong fit if you want a compact luxury sedan that feels more driver-focused than purely practical. With 31.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Lexus IS reliable?

Owners rate it 4.78/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience, with many drivers describing it as a great value and highlighting the car’s overall quality. That said, you should still evaluate each used example carefully, because long-term ownership risk depends heavily on maintenance history and how the car was treated before you buy.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Lexus IS?

At 43.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection from a trusted mechanic. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the car’s interior and electronics match the seller’s description. Because this model appeals to drivers who value style and performance, a clean, well-kept example is worth more than one with hidden damage or uneven wear.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Lexus IS?

What is the 2014 Lexus IS's resale value?

The current average of $16,339 sits slightly below last year's $16,775.

That tells you the market has softened a bit, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, the recent decline suggests resale value may be steadier if you buy well and keep the car in strong condition. A clean history and good maintenance records should matter more when it comes time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.78/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2014 Lexus IS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 43.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.60% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.78/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $17,531, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $16,339 average.
• It adds a sharper focus on driving enjoyment and multiple powertrain choices.

The bottom line: If you want the better value and are comfortable shopping carefully, the 2014 is the smarter starting point. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year with a stronger emphasis on sportiness, the 2015 is the better secondary path.
