How much does the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee cost?

Prices have softened 7.86% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,537 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee a good car?

Yes — the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Drivers consistently praise its spacious interior, luxurious features, comfortable ride, and strong power, especially in the diesel model. The overview also frames it as a useful daily SUV with serious capability, so you get a mix of practicality and ruggedness rather than a one-note off-road machine. That broad appeal helps explain why it works for shoppers who want comfort, capability, and a more upscale feel in one package.

There are 31.6% good or great deals in the market, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable-feeling SUV with strong everyday appeal, and drivers often describe it as comfortable and capable enough to count on for regular use. The expert review also notes that Jeep made progress in improving daily drivability without sacrificing off-road ability, which supports the sense that it is built for long-term versatility. At the same time, the review flags concerns about reliability and expensive repairs tied to certain features, so used buyers should pay close attention to maintenance history and ownership costs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

At 57.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing includes off-road or advanced tech equipment. Focus on signs of wear in the suspension, electronics, and any features that could be costly to repair. If you want the best odds of a trouble-free purchase, condition and documentation matter more here than mileage alone.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Jeep says the Grand Cherokee comes in five flavors: Laredo, Limited, Overland, Summit and SRT. The lineup ranges from more basic equipment to progressively more luxury-focused content, and the base setup leaves you without some of the higher-end convenience and technology features that appear on better-equipped trims.
• Powertrain: The standard setup uses a 290-horsepower, 3.6-liter V6 with an 8-speed automatic, and Jeep also offers a clean-diesel V6 plus available V8 powertrains. The V6 is the efficiency-minded choice, while the diesel and V8 options broaden capability and character.
• Safety package: Forward Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation is part of the optional Advanced Technology Group, which also includes Adaptive Cruise Control, advanced brake assist, and Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Path Detection. Other available items include Trailer Sway Control, rain-sensing wipers, adaptive headlights, run-flat tires, and Call 9-1-1 services, depending on trim level.
• Infotainment: Uconnect Access brings an 8.4-inch color touchscreen, simple menus, crisp graphics, improved voice recognition, mobile Wi-Fi access, Bluetooth music streaming, hands-free text messaging, and Emergency Call/9-1-1 service.
• Fuel efficiency: The standard V6 returns a combined 19 mpg, and the review notes a mixed-driving test average of 18.8 mpg.

Which 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in 5 trim levels: Laredo, Limited, Overland, Summit and SRT.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Grand Cherokee’s core capability and utility at the lowest starting point. It is the trim to consider if you care most about getting into the model without paying for extra luxury content.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more upscale cabin feel and the kind of equipment that makes the Grand Cherokee easier to live with every day. It is a smart middle ground if you want comfort and features without jumping to the pricier luxury trims.
• Overland: Choose this if you want a more premium experience and are willing to pay for it. It suits buyers who want the Grand Cherokee to feel more luxurious without going all the way to the top of the range.
• Summit: This is the luxury-focused choice, and it is the trim to target if you want the most upscale version of the Grand Cherokee. It is best for shoppers who value comfort and premium presentation above all else.
• SRT: This is the performance-oriented model for pavement-focused buyers. It is the right pick if you want the Grand Cherokee’s strongest on-road character rather than its off-road emphasis.

For safety-minded shoppers, note that Forward Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation is part of the optional Advanced Technology Group, not standard on every trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep buyer’s market.

• Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,537 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.86% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 57.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,487, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $10,487 sits slightly below last year's $11,382.

That decline suggests the market has softened, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For future sellers, the key takeaway is that pricing pressure has already moved this model downward, so condition and trim quality will matter even more when it is time to list it. Well-kept examples should still attract interest because the Grand Cherokee has broad appeal and strong owner satisfaction.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee safe?

The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns an overall rating of 4 stars from NHTSA, and the IIHS gives it the highest rating of Good in 4 of its 5 evaluations.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Jeep says the Grand Cherokee includes over 70 safety- and security-related features, including standard rain-brake support, ready-alert braking, and a driver knee airbag. Forward Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation is available through the Advanced Technology Group, along with Adaptive Cruise Control, advanced brake assist, and Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Path Detection. The review also notes that the Grand Cherokee had not yet been evaluated in the IIHS small overlap frontal-impact test at the time.

Should I buy a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2014 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2014 if:

• 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.86% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2014 stands out for its refined blend of daily usability and serious off-road capability.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $11,384, the 2015 costs more than the current year's $10,487 average.
• It offers a broader range of trims and engines for buyers who want more choice.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2014 is the stronger starting point because prices have eased and inventory is healthy. If you are willing to spend more for a wider range of configurations, the 2015 is worth a look.

How does the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee compare to the 2014 Dodge Durango?

Our experts score the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee 7.5/10 and the 2014 Dodge Durango 7.5/10.

The two SUVs are closely matched on expert score, but the Grand Cherokee brings stronger market availability and a slightly lower average used price. The Durango is a touch more expensive on average, while the Grand Cherokee also has the better good-and-great deal share. If you want the broader shopping pool and a slightly softer price point, the Jeep has the edge; if you are cross-shopping purely on value, both are very close.
